Bogota Sports

29- Jan-2013
Monday night the Bogota Lady Bucs posted a come from behind victory  57- 51 over Queen of Peace at Speary Gym. After scoring the first two points of the game Bogota gave up the next nine to Q o P, and ended -up trailing  12- 19 after the the first quarter. Bogota fought back to even the score at 21 at one point only to watch it slip away as the Golden Griffins went into halftime with a ten point lead. Whatever Coach Gaffney told his team worked in the next part of the game as the Lady Bucs with all players scoring at least two points in the third quarter. Bogota kept up a higher pace to the game in the second half, starting with their defense. They pressured Queen of Peace in all area of the court, this was shown best by Deanna Brugger who constantly harassed the ball carrier in the front court. She interrupted many of the Q o P  attempts to pass the ball forward , mainly batting the ball out, forcing the visitors to start over again. A few time Ms. Brugger maintained possession leading to scoring chances for Bogota. She showed no fear in any opportunity  to tie up the ball carrier whether it was standing up or fighting on the floor for the ball. This, and other physical play by Bogota slowly started to wear down Queen of Peace as Bogota started the final quarter with a two point lead. The Lady Bucs scorers found it easier to move as the three top scorers Kara Woegen (15 pts) Kristin Bautista (14 pts) and Stephanie Prepepaj (13 pts) to kept  Q o P from mounting a comeback. A number  of the Boys team were on hand giving support, and encouragement to their classmates as the played their way to the  the six point win. The next game is on Thursday 31- Jan. for a 4:00 p start at Midland Park.
The Boys team suffered at 63- 74 loss to Ft. Lee in the opening round of the Jamboree on Sunday. The Boys next play Midland Park at Speary Gym on Thursday 31- Jan with a 7:00 p tip-off.
The Bogota wrestlers lost two  of three matches in their Quad meet on Saturday and  having a tie in the third. Their losses were to Ft. Lee 34-43, Rutherford 32-37 and being even with Ridgefield Park 36-36. They now have a record of 14-7-1 with their next match in Elmwood Park on Wed. 30- Jan starting at 7:00p.
