In the Special Election for the United States Senate in order to who will fill one of two of New Jersey's seats in the U.S. Senate, Newark Mayor Cory Booker ( Democratic) defeated former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan ( Republican) . As of this posting all but one New Jersey Precinct has reported, with Mr. Booker having won 55% of the vote. Mr. Lonegan took 44% of the vote trailing by 134,206.That seat became available with the death of U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg.
