Construction Updates

 30-Sept.-2014

Some updates on construction projects going on around Bogota.
Bogota Blog NJ has learn that a third option is now being considered for the QuickChek on River Rd. in Bogota. Since the lease on both business' ( the QuickChek & Rite Aid) is coming up for renewal a plan to have QuickChek take over the whole site is starting to be developed. The new plan is to have a 24-hour QuickChek market which will also have a 3 pump gas island on the front.  The  QuickChek would then expand to have a cafe area with both indoor & outdoor seating available. A projection of having job opportunities for up to 30 employees once the new store is fully operational. There would also be a new landscaping plan for the surrounding area.
The previous plans was to have  QuickChek move out and Rite Aid  use the whole space. Then a plan was made to have both stores stay the same with improvements. This latest plan still needs to go to before the Zoning & Planning Boards for approval.
There is a Borough Council meeting on Thursday 2- Oct. at 7:30p. The next Planning board & Zoning meeting will be held on  Tuesday 14-Oct starting at 7:30p. It will be held in the Borough Hall Council Chambers located on the second floor of Borough Hall 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.  Anyone wishing to contact Quick-Chek and inform them of the importance of their Bogota location can use the following link to contact them  at: http://qchek.com/contact_us.asp.

The new offices of the Bogota Board of Education have been opened while under a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy.  Final approval is being held back until work on the sidewalk has been finished. The new Board office is a one story structure with a central  hallway with meeting rooms and offices on either side. School Board Superintendent Dr. Letizia Pantoliano  expressed her approval of the new building by saying that it improves the work environment to be in an office instead of a converted house.

Bucs Football

27- Sept.-2014
The Bogota Bucs Football team play a Friday Night game at Fiegel Field ,and came away with a 32-7 victory over Wallington. The Bucs offense coming to grow more confident playing a ball control game wearing down the Wallington Defense then striking for the big play. While the Bogota Defense, for the third straight game limited their opponent to only one Touchdown.
Bogota took a 14-0 lead into the half and had some unsuccessful possessions to start the third quarter.  This gave the Panthers good field position to cut the score in half by the Three quarter mark. An 18 point final quarter saw Brennen Rodgers throw for one touchdown, and sneaking in for another. While Austin Urbaez ran for another long score.
Some Wallington player showed their  frustration , and the Bogota players their passion with a few pushing incident near the end causing  Coach Nick DeStefano to calm down some of his players. This was echoed in his post game talk to his team. That the frustration showed by an opponent is a sign that the team is playing their game. But , with an away game next week the players must stay being the smarter players and continue the sportsmanship that is excepted.
The Bucs next game is  friday 3- Oct- at Weehawken with a Kick-off scheduled to be at 7:00p

In Bogota Bucs  Soccer Their  Varsity game at St. Mary's has been reschedule for next Friday 3-Oct and will have a 4:00p Kick-off This will then move their Junior Varsity game at Hawthorne Christian to Thursday 2-Oct. with a 4:00p start.
