Reminder:

 Bogota Blog NJ along with Bogota Beautiful is starting a drive to collect gift cards in order to help the Citizens of Edgewater, NJ. With the assistance of Bogota Mayor Chris Keleman there will be a collection box located in Borough Hall in the secretary's office.  The secretary's office will be open during normal business hours which  are from Monday to Thursday from 8:00a to 5:00p.    Results from games played  on Friday  30-Jan by the teams from Bogota.
   The Bogota/ Weehawken Wrestling squad  won at Secaucus by a score of 51-24. Brandon Gonzalez  (106 lbs),   Michael Martinez (113 lbs),  Christian Gonzalez  (138 lbs),   Rafael Gil (160lbs), Brian Delacruz  (170lbs) all recorded Pin Falls while Justin Demoya (220lbs ) won by a 4-1 Decision.  They next have a Match on Saturday 31- Jan at Wallkill Valley Regional against New Milford, and Belleville. This schedule to start at 10:00a.

   The Bogota Basketball Teams split at New Milford. The Lady Bucs lost their game  28-57. Alanah O'Brien lead the team with 8 Points including 2 Three point Baskets. They next play on Tuesday 3-Feb at Waldwick with the game scheduled to start at 5:30p
  The Men's Basketball Bucs traveled to New Milford, they took a 9 point in the first quarter ,and were able to hold off  The Knights for the rest of the game coming away with a 50-46 win. Anthony Ovalle lead all scorers with 16 Points, and Andrew Riad made a game high 3 Three Point Baskets. 
  Bogota next plays on Tuesday 3- Feb at Home in Speary Gym against Waldwick. Tipoff time is scheduled for 7:00p

Bogota Basketball

    On Thursday 29-Jan the  Bogota Bucs Basketball teams from Bogota played against the teams from Hawthorne Christian Academy. The Men's team traveled to Hawthorne  to play the Defenders. After trailing 17-21 at halftime the Bucs took a two point lead going into the final eight minutes. Hawthorne doubled Bogota in the fourth quarter to earn at 48-39 win. 
   Kenny Dixon lead Bogota in scoring with 12 points, with Andrew Riad having a game high 2 three points baskets. Bogota next plays at New Milford on Friday  30-Jan starting at 7:00p

   The Lady Bucs had a Home game at Speary Gym against the Lady Defenders.  After a first half of missed shot & turnovers from both teams Bogota took a 7-6 lead into half time. At the start of the third Quarter the Lady Bucs tried to hold their lead by pressing  HCA in the front court. This lead to a more turnoffs, but this time Bogota made the most of their chances and posted at 15-1 Third Quarter on their way to a 30-14 victory. Kelliann Brown had a game high 7 Points while Emily Robbins, Gwenth Trujillo, & Alanah O'Brien each record one three point basket. 
  The Lady Bucs next play the front game of Bogota Double Header at New Milford on Friday 30-Jan. Their game is scheduled to tip off at 5:30p

   The Miss Bogota 2015 Pageant will be holding their Etiquette and Protocol, & Public Speaking workshop starting at 3:00p.  This will be  the Candidates to learn the art of presenting oneself in Public and at formal Private Functions.  This will be held at the Bogota Recreation Center  and is limited to the Candidates and the Parents, or Guardians.

Bogota 
     The Bogota VFW Ralph Hall Post # 5561  will be hosting a Super Bowl party at their Post. They have acquired a special event permit to open their newly refurbished  Canteen to the public. They will be  served at VFW members pricing. There will be food service with  the cost being a donation to help Post #5561  with their programs to help other Veterans.  They will have several  T.V.  throughout the building ( the Lower Hall, The Main Hall, The Civic Room and the Canteen) Doors will open for Members and their Guest at 12:00 noon. Admittance for the General Public will start at 3:00p

Bogota 
     The Bogota Bucs Football Team will have their annual Football Awards dinner. This will be held at Vitale's Restaurant starting at 6:30p .  Tickets are $20 person payable by cash at the door.  The cost includes Appetizer, Five entrees, and Dessert  along with  unlimited soft drinks. The annual awards for Top Defensive & Offensive Player Most improved Player and other awards will be handed out at this event. There will also be a showing of the Highlight film form the 2014 Season.    The Bogota Police & Office of Emergency Management  have issued the following weather alerts.

Beginning at 12 noon on January 27, 2015 the Snow Parking Restrictions will be lifted as all roads in the Borough of Bogota have been properly and safely cleared by our DPW.  Normal Parking Regulations will be in effect and enforced at that time.  The Bogota Police Department Website, Facebook and Twitter Pages have been updated to reflect the notification.

The week in Bogota Sports

Lady Bucs Basketball

  On Thursday    29-Jan  they play a Home game against  Hawthorne Christian Academy.   This will be played in Speary Gym with a schedule starting time  at 4:00p  On Friday 30-Jan they will travel to New Milford for a game scheduled to start at 5:30p 

Bucs Basketball

  On Thursday  29-Jan  they travel to Hawthorne Christian Academy with the tip-off scheduled for 7:00p
  On Friday 30-Jan they will travel to New Milford for a game scheduled to start at 7:00p 
The Junior Varsity Basketball will play before the Varsity game  at 5:30p on 29- Jan. 

Middle School Basketball
  On Wednesday 28-Jan  willat Home against Palisade Park. The Lady Bucs game will start at 4:00p. The Boys game will start at 5:00p   On Friday 30-Jan they travel to Ridgefield Park .

Bucs Bowling

    On Thursday 29-Jan they have a Match against Bergen Charter.  
All Bowling Matches will  start at 4:00p and take place at the Parkway Lanes. The Parkway Lanes are located at 200 US rte 46 Elmwood Park, NJ

  Some updates from local officials about the  weather situation over the next several days.
-The Bogota Board of Education has announce that Monday 26- Jan. will be a half day with an early dismissal.
-Bogart Memorial School has announce it will be closed on both Monday & Tuesday 26 & 27 Jan due to the weather  situation.
-The Bogota Police Dept has issued the following alert:

THE BERGEN COUNTY EOC WILL BE AT A LEVEL II ACTIVATION FROM 0800 HOURS MONDAY MORNING FOR THE DURATION OF THE EVENT. WE WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THIS SITUATION AND ISSUE UPDATES AS NECESSARY.

Advisory: Borough Residents are reminded when 2 inches of snow or more have accumulated Parking Prohibited on ALL Streets.

SNOW PARKING REGULATIONS 

7-3.10 Parking Prohibited When Streets Are Covered with Snow. 
a. No vehicle shall be parked on any streets or highways or portions thereof whenever snow has fallen and the accumulation is such that at least two (2) inches of snow cover the street or highway. 
b. The above parking prohibitions shall remain in effect after the snow has ceased to fall and until the streets have been plowed sufficiently so that parking will not interfere with snow removal activities and with the normal flow of traffic. 

When the Borough of Bogota or Bogota Police Department declare a Snow Emergency the Bogota Police Department will not give permission to park overnight. The following areas have been designated to park in Snow Emergencies: 

EAST SIDE of Palisade Avenue 
or 
WEST SIDE of Larch Avenue 
or 
EAST SIDE of West Shore Avenue 

Parking in any other restricted areas will result in a citation as provided for in Boro Ordinance 7-3.6 

Your cooperation during Snow Emergencies will assist the Borough of Bogota Department of Public Works in quickly returning our roads to be passable and safe.
