Bogota
 The Bogota Public library will host a Trivia Night with Mr. Roman. This is scheduled to start at 7:30p and be held in the Senior Center  on the second floor of the Bogota Library located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ

Friday-1-May
Bogota  - Bogota VFW Ralph Hall post #5561 will be holding it's annual Loyalty Day event. They will award the winners of the "Voice of Democracy" and "Patriot's Pen" essay contest.  They will also display the work of  the colouring contest for the younger Students. This will be held in the Main Hall located at 240 Leonia Ave Bogota, NJ. This is open to the Public and  is a free event.




Saturday-2-May
Bogota
   The Bogota Public Library will have a Mother's Day origami workshop. This will start at 10:00a and be in the second floor Seniors Center of the Library at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.  This is a free event and open to the public. The Library ask to reserve a space by calling 201-488-7185 of by email at director@bogtoa.bccls.org  on or before Thursday 9- April.

Saturday-2-May
Bogota
   Bogota Beautiful will have a Spring planting event to add new flowers and plants to the W.Main St. Planters. This is schedule to start at 10:00a and go until noon.  They will be  refreshing the soil, adding dwarf  pine trees as a year long centerpiece  and planting spring flowers.  The materials were purchased with funds raised from their pancake breakfast in March.  Anyone wishing to help with the planting can contact them at bogotabeautiful@gmail.com or visit their website at www.bogotabeautiful.com

Bogota
 - The Steen PTO will be having their third annual Tricky Tray  raffle at the Bogota VFW Ralph Hall post #5561. Door will open at 6:00p with raffle drawing beginning at 7:30p. Tickets are $20.00 in advance and $25.00 at the door. Price includes Buffet Dinner, with Dessert & Coffee. As well as a sheet of tickets for small basket prizes.  This is an Adult only event and a cash bar will be available. To order advance tickets please go to : Steen PTO Tricky-Tray 2015 . Addition raffle ticket will be available for purchase.  This will be held in the Main Hall located at 240 Leonia Ave Bogota, NJ

       The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman  This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayors office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.

Police Unity Tour

    On Monday 27- April riders of  the Police Unity Tour from Bogota & Montvale held a fundraiser at the 101 Pub in Bogota. Proceeds from this event will go to help with the 2015 Unity Tour which will start on Sunday 9- May in East Hanover , NJ to be at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington DC on  Tuesday 12-May. 
   The Police Unity Tour main function is raise awareness of the law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. From their rides, and other event they have raised over $10 million dollars for the National Law Enforcement Offices Memorial in Washington DC .

BPESYA

    The Bogota Police Emergency Service Youth Academy  have finished their informational tours of the four Bogota School that have students eligible to apply for the BPESYA class 05 starting in July of 2015.  The visited the 5th & 6st grade classes in Steen and Bixby Schools, the 5th,6st & 7th grades of St. Joseph's and the 7th grade class in Bogota Junior /Senior High school.  The Academy is only accepting applications of Student who will be entering grades 6,7 &8  for the school year starting in September 2015.  Applications will be available on Saturday  9- May starting at 7:00a. at the Bogota Police Headquarters ( or at the W.Broad St. firehouse). 
    Over the past several years the line to pick up application has starting forming one to two hours before the starting time. It is recommended that the Student themselves pick-up the application, this helps show the Academy officials that the Student is serious about being apart of the Youth Academy.  After that date application may be pick-up at Police Headquarters.  Applications must be returned to  Police Headquarters no later the Saturday 16-May at 7:00p 
  There is a nominal fee for those Cadet who will be accepted into Class 05. This is payable on the Parent Orientation day to be announced later. The Academy will also have scholarships available for those in need of financial assistance.  The Academy will take place starting Thursday 16- July with an assessment day  through Graduation on Tuesday 28- July.  For more information,  about the  Bogota Police Emergency Services Youth Academy please visit their website at : www.bpesya.com  or by email at BPESYA@outlook.com
   The Bogota Police Emergency Services Youth Academy has been developing the Students of Bogota, and is recognized one of the finest youth programs in Northern New Jersey.This program  is becoming  an important part in the the education of Bogota Students.




                                            

   On Friday 8- May the Bogota Police Emergency Service Youth Academy  will be holding a fundraiser benefit for Class 05. This will be at the Bogota VFW Main Hall located at 240 Leonia Ave Bogota, NJ. Tickets are now available costing $35 for Adults and $15 for youths. Tickets will be available at the door for $40 for Adults & $20 for youths.  This will feature a Buffet dinner including refreshments. Staff and officials from the Bogota Police Emergency Service Youth Academy will be on hand to talk to Graduate Cadets, and will be available to answer any question Student , or Parents may have about signing up for class 05. Proceeds from this event will go to help fund  BPESYA Class 05 in July of 2015.

   In a related story  BPESYA  Program Coordinator Anna Ferris has received word for her cousin who has worked in Nepal to help young girls be saved from human trafficking.  Ms Eva. Capozzola worked with the organization " Forget Me Not" which proves shelter, education and even reconnection of young girls back to their families. Ms. Capozzola has been in contact with some of the families she has worked with since 25- April. However a number of girls and  their Families have been unaccounted for since the Earthquake earlier this week. Earth Day 2015

27- April-2015

   On Saturday 25- April organized  by Bogota Beautiful a large group of Volunteers came to Olsen Park in Bogota to do an  Earth Day cleaning of the park. Local groups including the the Bogota Rescue Squad, A number of Girl Scout Troops, members of Trinity Lutheran Church, some Lady Bucs Volleyball teammates, Student from Rutgers University along with the Mayor and some members of Council,  joined together with  Borough resident to give Olsen Park a spring cleaning. The volunteers spread throughout the park from the Recreation Center to the banks of the Hackensack River to rake leaves, remove fallen branches and  pick-up any trash that was not properly disposed of. A small crew also did a sweep of W.Main St, from Elm to Larch Aves.
   Bogota Beautiful President Amaru Bustamante  welcomed the Volunteer to the event saying that this is not about the group he heads but about keeping  Bogota beautiful.  Councilwoman Daniel Fede, chairperson of the Bogota Green team and  Mayor Chris Keleman also thanked everyone who came out to help. Mayor  Keleman said the this type of community activity is one of the beautiful thing about Bogota.
   The next Bogtoa Beautiful event will be to do a Spring planting of the planters on W. Main St. for information about volunteering , or donating to that project please visit the Bogota Beautiful website at : www.bogotabeautiful.com
