Week End Events

21- January-2016

 Some events happening in and around Bogota for the weekend starting on Thursday-21-January.  Due to possible changes in the weather please contact the organization for information about cancellations delays.

  A Family Orchard Terrace is still searching for their lost dog . This family is serving as a Foster Home for this Dog who will answer to the name Cleo or Celine. She is a 2 year Shepard mix Brown and Black in colour.  The foster family reported Cleo missing on Wednesday 16-Dec after arriving home from work finding a window broken and Cleo missing. Cleo was last seen wearing a red collar decorated with images of bones on it.  Cleo may be familiar with the area along River Rd. She is described as "fearful" and may ran from strangers.  Cleo has been with her Foster Family for only a few weeks so she may be looking for an older home, or more familiar surroundings.

  Sections of River Rd from Elm Ave. to the  border of Ridgefield Park will be subject to closure due to utility work. Please schedule extra time for travel and plan aternet routes.

   The Bixby  Concert originally schedule for this date has been moved to Thursday 28-January . Time will still be 7:00p and be held in the Bixby Gymnasium

   Bogota Beautiful will host Winter Salsa night in January. These will be every Thursday ( 21 ,& 28) of January. The lessons will start at 8:00p and go until 9:00p.  These will be lead by Isabel Bustamante who will teach anyone in attendance the art of Salsa Dancing.  The lessons are be open to all ages and experiences in dancing.  All sessions  will take place on the second floor of the Kennedy Emergency Service Building located at 69 W. Main St Bogota, NJ. There will be a suggested donation of $5.00 for the first three night and $10.00 for 28-Jan.  The fourth night will be a Salsa Social Dance event. This is open to anyone, of all ages, who knows, or wishes to learn about Salsa Dance.  Ms. Bustamante will be one instructor, along with Sasha Valerie leading the class on 21-Jan. The final night dance party on 28-January with music provided.  Anyone wishing to donate a food item should contact  Bogota Beautiful for more information. Also anyone wishing to volunteering for any of these project. The Bogota Borough Council will be holding their regular Council meeting  and work session starting at 7:30p. It will take place in the Council Chambers of Borough Hall. Borough Hall is located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.  This meeting is open to the public.

 The New Jersey Chapter of 350.org and the Coalition to Ban Unsafe Oil Trains will hold a rally in Bogota. This will be held from 2:00p to 3:00p and will take place on the Albert Graf Bridge on Main. St Bogota, NJ. There will State,  Local, Community, and Environmental  leading speaking about the the number of oil carrying train that pass through many Northern New Jersey  Communities, including Bogota. They will be offering everyone information about the train traffic through Bogota.  Some of these trains have been transporting North Dakota crude which is shipped to Albany, NY then travels on rail, through  New Jersey, to refineries near Philadelphia.  Question have arisen about the safety of the rail lines and the equipment carrying the crude oil.  There have also been issues discussed about the environmental and financial effect to any area that may be the sight of a derailment , or other accident.

  The Bogota Public Library will host a three week workshop on wellness and  Weight  Management.  This will be in cooperation with the ShopRite of Hackensack They will bring  a FREE 3-week weight management series. Come learn about portion sizes, eating healthy on the go, label reading, cooking for weight loss, and more! This free 3-week program will be led by ShopRite of Hackensack registered dietitian, Alison Halpern, RD, CHES. Participants will learn strategies to make healthy lifestyle choices to accomplish their goals. Space is limited.

       The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman  This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.
