April Events

1-April-2016

  Some events scheduled to take place in and around Bogota for the month of April.  Times and dates may change due weather or other circumstances. Please contact the event for the most up to date information.  More event will be added throughout the month.
  
Continuing    

  The Bogota Public Library has set out a box to collect old, and used Crayola coloured makers. Makers collected will be send to the Crayola company to be reprocessed. For more information please visit ther web site at;  http://www.crayola.com/colorcycle

  A Family Orchard Terrace is still searching for their lost dog . This family is serving as a Foster Home for this Dog who will answer to the name Cleo or Celine. She is a 2 year Shepard mix Brown and Black in colour.  The foster family reported Cleo missing on Wednesday 16-Dec after arriving home from work finding a window broken and Cleo missing. Cleo was last seen wearing a red collar decorated with images of bones on it.  Cleo may be familiar with the area along River Rd. She is described as "fearful" and may ran from strangers.  Cleo has been with her Foster Family for only a few weeks so she may be looking for an older home, or more familiar surroundings.

   This will be the first day of Food For Fines at the Bogota Public Library. For the entire month of April The Bogtoa Public Library will accept donation of food in lieu of payment for overdue fines.  Food products that must be  non-perishable item. Donation can be canned goods, boxed or bag item that are not damage , and are not yet expired.  Glass containers will not be accepted. All item donated will then be forwarded to the St. Joseph's food pantry.

    Steen School will be having a Spring Cleaning of its School Garden and the area surround the school. This is to celebrate the 10 years anniversary of the Student Garden Club at Steen. The are looking for Volunteers of any age to help spruce up Steen for the coming Spring.  They will be assisted by the Steen PTO,  Bogota Beautiful and the Bogota Environmental Commission.  The goal of this event is to rebuild some of the planting beds in the garden, weed and trim overgrowth from the Winter. They will also remove trash from around the school grounds, and small plantings.  It is recommended anyone volunteering wear sturdy shoes, pants and shirts. Work gloves will also be beneficial.  Any volunteer with their own gardening equipment, or lawn bags are asked to bring them to use. There is no need to register to volunteer, they will welcome anyone who wishes to help for the whole time, or even an hour.

 The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman  This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.

  The Bogota High School Class of 2016 will host a first of its kind Tricky Tray and Fashion event. This will take place in the Bogota High School Cafeteria with the doors opening at 6:30p Tickets are priced at $20.00, which will include admission, refreshments, and $10 worth of raffle tickets, and available at the door.  Advance purchased ticket will include a $20 discount card.  A number of business will supply the fashion to be displayed. Models will be members of the Senior graduation class of 2016. There will also by some original designs by Senior Justin DeMoya for SUS Clothing.

Monday-18-April

   The Bogota, Ridgefield Park, & Montvale along with the NJ Honor Legion  Police Unity Tour Riders will host a Social night on Monday -18- April from 6:00p to 10:00p This will take place at the 101 Pub located at 101 Queen Anne Rd. Bogota, NJ. Tickets are $25 per person and will be available at the door. This is a fundraising event of the police Unity Tour.    The Police Unity Tour was started in 1997 in Florham Park, NJ with 18 riders in order to raise awareness of follow Offices killed in the line of duty, and to help raise fund for the families of fallen Officers.  It now has over 1700 members worldwide and works with National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial and Museum in Washington DC. Bogota Beautiful will sponsor their second annual Earth Day clean-up.   Areas to be worked on this year will be the Little League field on the Eastern Side of Olsen Park. Another will be the Railroad Crossing at Ft. Lee rd. This will be the W. Ft. Lee rd side of the tracks near  Antique Row, along with West Shore rd  from E.Ft.Lee rd to the VFW Hall.  This will take place on Saturday 23- April starting at 10:00  to 2:00p  All volunteers are asked to meet at the Olsen Park picnic pavilion before 10:00a. Snacks & refreshments will be provided starting at 11:30a. There will be some supplies proved, it is asked that anyone who wishes can bring their own lawn working supplies. ( Gloves, broom, rakes etc.) . To register to volunteer as an individual, or group please visit their website.
