Alumni Swim

28-August-2016
 On Friday 26- August the Bogota Emergency Service Youth Academy held their annual Alumni reunion swim at the Bogota Swim Club pool. Members from all the 6 class were in attendance along with Family and Friends. Several of the instructors also attended to spend some time with past Cadets and a few Parents. Instructor Castellanos was even able to have some of the Alumni do water calisthenics. As all the Alumni gathered for group photos  the Academy was presented with a donation from  Class 06 and the Bergen County Auto group to show their appreciation for the work done by the Academy with the Student of Bogota.

Reading magic Show

 On Tuesday 23- August, the Bogota Public Library ended their Summer reading  program with a magic show.  Jim Vagias " Magic Jim" presented a show that combined humor and magic to show what is possible when using the power of reading  to explore the world. With a sports & Olympic theme show he demonstrative with stories such as Aesop Fables how important it was for the tortoise keep trying.  Other stories told of how some of the top Athletes of today started their career at a young age, or grew up not being able to afford the newest equipment, or even making their High School team on the first try.
  Magic Jim said that  he learned about all these stories from reading book. He also said that another thing he learned was how to do magic so he could entertain others, and show the power of reading.

  A Family Orchard Terrace is still searching for their lost dog . This family is serving as a Foster Home for this Dog who will answer to the name Cleo or Celine. She is a 2 year Shepard mix Brown and Black in colour.  The foster family reported Cleo missing on Wednesday 16-Dec after arriving home from work finding a window broken and Cleo missing. Cleo was last seen wearing a red collar decorated with images of bones on it.  Cleo may be familiar with the area along River Rd. She is described as "fearful" and may ran from strangers.  Cleo has been with her Foster Family for only a few weeks so she may be looking for an older home, or more familiar surroundings.

 Bogota Beautiful is conducting a contest to find the Bogota resident with the most appealing curb presents. This is open to all homeowners in Bogota. The homeowner may submit their own residents, or  other resident for consideration. The general Public may also nominate any home in Bogota for consideration. Only the front and side yards are eligible to be nominated.  There are two different categories that will be voted on.  One is the most appealing landscape of any home in Bogota. The other category that will be voted on is the best improved lawn in Bogota. This is a contest for any Homeowner that is currently, or is planning to upgrade and improve their landscaping. Two set  of photos are required for this contest. A separate before  and after photo should be sent for consideration for this category. To enter  either , of both  contests  1 to 3 photos the  nominated lawn must be sent to bogotabeautiful@gmail.com  before  Sunday 31-July-2016.
    Photos will be posted on  Bogota Beautiful facebook page starting on Saturday 6-August for voting. To vote please "like" the photo. Voting is schedule to run through  Tuesday 16-August. The top 6 vote "like" getters will be entered into the final round of judge by a committee from Bogota Beautiful. Winners will be announced on Sunday 28- August.  The Bogota will have Thursday activities in conjuncture with their Summer reading program. There will be a story time reading  starting at 10:30a followed by Arts and Crafts.    The Bogota Emergency Services Youth Academy will hold an Academy Alumni swim on Friday 26-August at the Bogota Swim Club pool. this will run from 7:00p to 10:00p. Cadets from all graduating class are asked to attend. The Public is also invited to attend to talk with past Cadets, and Staff members about the Bogota Emergency Services Youth Academy. Admission is free with Hamburgers, Hotdog, and soft drinks provided.  There will be Youth Academy items available for purchase with all process going to help fund  the Bogota Police Emergency  Services Youth Academy  class #07 in the Summer of 2017.

    The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman  This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.
