Lady Bucs Volleyball

10-October-2016
Over the weekend of 8&9 October the Bogota Lady Bucs Volleyball team competed at the Garden State Challenge at Fairleigh Dickerson University. This is an annual Women's Volleyball Tournament  with 15 High Schools from four state  playing over two days.  Saturday consisted  of  " Pool" play where  teams in one of three groups of five  challenged each other. Bogota was placed in "Pool B" and finished with a recorded of 3-5. The next day teams played those from other pools based on record. Bogota was 1-3 in this round. Teams were then seeded for bracket play, where  Bogota was placed second in the " Silver  Division".  The Lady Bucs opened their bracket schedule by defeated Warwick Valley High School from Warwick , NY.  They next won against Cherokee High School of Marlton, NJ by the score of 25-16.  This earned them a spot in the  Silver Division Finals against  Our Lady of Good Counsel from Olney Maryland.   The Lady Falcons  took a 1-6 lead early in the game. Bogota Head Coach took a timeout to remind his players what the situation they are in, and how they got there.  Bogota then won the next point to recapture, and had Samantha Gioiosa start an 17 to 3 point run to put the Lady Bucs in command of the game. When Ms. Gioiosa's Kill attempt deflected off a Lady Falcons' block, and fell harmlessly out of bounds, Bogota had a 25-13 victory and won the Silver Division playoffs.
Bogota next plays Secaucus on Tuesday  11-October at Home in Speary Gym with a 7:00p start.
