Lady Bucs Volleyball

  On Monday 7-November the #1 Bogota Lady Bucs played #9 Midland Park in the Quarter-Final round of the NJISAA Group 1  Volleyball Tournament.  In the first game Bogota took an early 6-0 lead with six straights Service points from Anna Granquist. Midland Park would slowly gain momentum to tie the game a number of times. Midway into the first game the Lady Panthers took a 12-11 lead. A strong service run by Amy Chavez took the lead away from the visitors to give  Bogota a 25-18 win. Bogota built up a small lead through the second game, and when Midland Park started to close the gap Bogota Coach Brad DiRupo calmed his team down, with a time out. After the pause Bogota fought off any further comeback will the game 25-20 and the match 2-0. This puts Bogota into the Semi-Final Round. They will play #5 Glen Rock on Thursday -10-November at home in Speary Gym the match is scheduled for a 7:00p start .
  Samantha Gioiosa had a team high of 16 Kills, Amy Chavez had 8 Service Point  Both Kaliana Vasquez and Alyssa Vazquez had 12 Assists each.
  Before the Match Bogota Coach Brad DiRupo honoured the Senior from both teams. Grace Brassel, Veronica Pantale, and Keri Renick  of Midland Park were given Flowers by Coach DiRupo.  Then the four Bogota Seniors were called up for recognition. Tyesha Forrester. Kaliana Vasquez, and Captains Julia Goni and Samantha Gioiosa were all presented with flowers in gratitude. Before Ms Gioiosa was brought forward Coach DiRupo mentioned some of her accomplishment. Being named to All League, All County, and All State teams. And her recording 1,000 Kills in her career. Then it was announced that she will be named as to the  Under Armor All American team. With this her teammates rush to hug and congratulate her.
