31-October-2016
On Saturday-29-October the Bogota Recreation Commission hosted a Fall Festival in Olsen Park. This started with a costume parade  from Steen School down W. Main St to Olsen Park. At the park there was a Pumpkin patch set up for the Children to pick there own Pumpkin. Then they could decorate it to take home.   A sack race course and Bounce house were also available to be played with. Later in the Afternoon a hayride was able go give attendees a ride around  Olsen Park.  Some local groups were set-up to give information about other local groups. A DJ provided music for dancing.  Balloon animals, face paint, cotton candy, along  with Hamburgers and Hot Dogs were available for anyone would wanted them. This was helped by mild weather which allowed everyone to enjoy a Fall Afternoon.

31-October-2016

On Friday 28-October the Trinity  Lutheran Church in Bogota held their first Oktoberfest. This was in celebration of German ancestry of the Lutheran Church. Local families brought home made food from recipes handed down through the generation. There was a variety of  Sausages, & breads,  German potato salad, and schnitzels  to be tried and shared. Along with deserts to be consumed over coffee and conversation. Pastor Rachel Zarnke hopes to continue this as an annual celebration to bring the Lutheran German community together for an evening.
