Holiday Sports

  Over the Holiday break, teams from Bogota High School competed in a number of  local tournaments.
    On Friday 23- December the Bogota Wrestling Bucs started the week end with a 42-33 win at Dwight-Morrow.  Nicholas Martinez at 106 lbs, Michael Martinez at 120 lbs, Danny Gonzalez at 132 lbs, Brandon Gonzalez at 138 lbs, and Jevon Stephenson at 158 lbs all recorded pin falls for Bogota. 
  On Wednesday -28-December Bogota/ Weehawken would compete in the Bergen County Tournament at Hackensack High School. Michael Martinez at 120 lbs, Brandon Gonzalez at 138 lbs, and Jevon Stephenson at 160 lbs would advance to the second round, Evan Schroer at 285 lbs would receive at walk- over. In the second round only Mr. Schroer would advance with a pin fall victory. In the Quarterfinals Evan Schroer would record another pin fall win.  In the Semifinals Mr. Schroer would be pinned by the eventual Tournament Champion Eric Chakonis of Don Bosco.  Bogota/ Weehawken would place 28th out of the 38 team field with 27 Points 
     Bogota/ Weehawken would next have a Tri-meet against Union City and Verona at Verona High School. The Bucs would lose against against Verona 10-65.  Danny Gonzalez at 132 lbs would record a Pin Fall. Simon Gardona at 220 lbs win by a Major Decision.
    Against Union City, Bogota/ Weehawken would use Pin Falls by  Nicholas Martinez at 106 lbs,  Danny Gonzalez at 132 lbs, Tyler Williams at 145 lbs and  Jevon Stephenson at 158 lbs to earn a 45-38 win. This moves their record to 3-2 with their next match on Wednesday -4-Jan. against Hawthorne in Speary Gym stating at 7:00p

The Bogota Lady Bucs would compete in the Ridgefield Tournament at Ridgefield High School.  In the first game they would play Memorial from West New York, NJ. The Lady Tigers would take a 4 Point lead into Halftime.  Bogota would outscore Memorial by 4 Points in the second half to forge a 35 Point tie to send the game into overtime. The Lady Bucs could only manage 2 Points in the extra time and lose 37-41.
  In their next game they would plat The Becton Lady Wildcats. The teams would be tied at 19 going into Half time and again at 27 after three-quarter time. Becton would find two more Points than Bogota in the final eight minutes to have a 42-40 win. Bogota record is now 0-5. The next play at Green Meadow High School in Waldorf, NY Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00p

  The Mens Basketball Bucs in the Bergen Holiday Tournament played at Bergenfield High School. In there first game Bogota lost 30-71 against Dwight Englewood.  In their next game Bogota  would play Indian Hills. The Bucs would lead through -out the contest to win 63-56. In their final game the would play Bergen Tech. The Knights would build a big lead after two quarters on their way to a 68-49 win over Bogota. 
   Bogota's record is now 3-3,  The next play at Green Meadow High School in Waldorf, NY Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30p
