January Events

1-January-2017

    Some events scheduled to take place in and around Bogota  for the month of January.  Times and dates may change due weather or other circumstances. Please contact the event for the most up to date information.  More events will be added throughout the month.

Bogota
    In observance of the New Year Holiday the offices in Bogota Borough Hall will be closed. The Bogota Public Library will also be closed. Both will open on Tuesday 3-January at their regular hours.
 The Schools of the Bogtoa Public Education System, St.Joseph's School, Trinity School, and Bogart Pre-School will be closed this day. The will resume regular sessions on  Tuesday 3-January 


Tuesday-3-Jan.
Bogota
The Bogota Board of Education will have their  reorganization meeting. This will be held in the Bogota High  School  Cafeteria starting at 6:00p.  This will be the swearing in ceremony for the Board of Education Members elected during the November Elections of 2016. This is open to the public. The Cafeteria is located on the second floor at 2 Henry Luthin Pl. Bogota, NJ

Thursday-5-Jan.
Bogota
 The Bogota Borough Council will be holding their regular Sine Dine this is schedule to start at 7:30p. It will take place in the Senior Center located on the second floor at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.  This will be the swearing in ceremony for the Council Members elected during the November Elections of 2016. Other official appointment will occur at this meeting, This meeting is open to the public.

Friday-6-Jan.
Bogota 
    The Bogota Public Library will host a Mini-Makers lab for Students age 4-6. This will be held on the library first floor in the Teen quiet study area. Bogota 
 The Bogota Public Library will host   Jason Kopacz, from AmeriCorps NJ Watershed Ambassador with the Hackensack Riverkeeper will show examples of microinvertebrates  (sometimes call creepies and crawlies)  that live in the areas waterways. Mr Kopacz will have a  presentation about the health and well being of our rivers.     The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman  This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.

 The Bogota Public Library will host a “ Wimpy Kid” novel club . This will be for anyone interested in the ‘Dairy of a Wimpy Kid” series of books. This is open to any student in grades 2-6. The  Bogota Public library will present the movie "Storks"  This will start at 6:00p and be held in the Seniors Center on the second floor. Admission is free with snacks  and water available for $1.00 with the process going to help fund future Library events. The Bogota Public Library will host their next Smarty pants Lecture  on driving in in-climate weather.  Steve Rajczk form the AAA will present tips on driving in Hazardous road conditions. Mr Rajczk will also offer tips on winterizing a vehicle. Saturday-21-Jan.
Bogota 
  The Bogota Public Library will host a workshop for young athletes in Bogota  This will be the first of four Saturday's to encourage Students to learn more about how learning any sport can be beneficial in everyday life. It will be in two separate age groups.  One group for anyone ages from 2-4 will run from 10:30a to 11:00a. The second group will be for ages 5-7 and start at 11:15a to 12:00 noon.   The Bogota Public Library will offer an AARP  Defensive Driving Course. This is designed for drivers over the age of 50 and will explain update driving rules and teach defensive driving techniques. Maywood, NJ
   The Steen 6th Grade Committee will host a paint party  to help raise funds for the Steen Class of 2017. This will be held at Paintbrush Studios in Maywood, NJ. This event will start at 7:00p. Tickets are $45 per person and include painting supplies and appetizers. Personal refreshment may be brought.
