This a story about the relationship of two sisters, Stella DuBois who moved away from a small town in Mississippi and married Stanley Kowalski. The couple are visited by Stella's Blanche  with the news that the DuBois family Estate has been "lost". Stanley unsure of Blanche's story confronts her about her misfortune. This leads to a number of conflicts between the three, some violent while others are emotional in nature. Towards the end of the play Blanche is hospitalised after she suffers a psychotic break-down.
