Weekend Events

 Some events scheduled to take place in and around Bogota  for the Weekend starting on Thursday-6-April.  Times and dates may change due weather or other circumstances. Please contact the event for the most up to date information.  More events will be added when they become available.
Continuing
  The Bogota Public Library is continuing its project to create the Nikki Spiegel Storytime Corner in the Library's main floor. To help off set the cost they have set-up a go fund me page at: https://www.gofundme.com/nikkispiegel.  Has met its original goal.

 Starting on Thursday-16 March the  Lt William Ryan Bridge will be closed for replacement.   Construction is schedule to take 10 Months to complete. 

                                            

  This April the Bogota Public  Library will be having another Food for Fines Month.
The library will be accepting donations of non-perishable foods in place of overdue fines from our patrons. One item will pay up to $1.00 in fines. Items that are most needed are
canned meats, fish, vegetables, fruit, soups, beans, peanut butter, jelly, pasta, sauce, boxed rice, pancake syrup, hot and cold cereals, cake mixes, juices, and icing. We appreciate your generosity during this food raising event. All food will be donated to Bogota’s St. Joseph’s Food Pantry. Ends April 30th. 

  If you do not have any over due items from the Library they will gladly accept  any food donations during April as well.  The Bogota Public Library is located at  375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ. Starting on Starting -1-April the Bogota Police Department will begin its campaign to reduce distracted driving. Police Officers will be station through out the Borough to obverse that anyone operating a motor vehicle in a safe and legally manner. The Police will be on the look-out for anyone using a cell phone for calling , or texting, along with other  ways which may cause distracted driving.


Thursday & Friday-6&7-April
Bogota 
 The library is again working with AARP this year to provided assistance in tax preparation. This will be available on Thursday and Fridays from now until Saturday 15- April.  This is targeted to anyone over the age of 60 who could also be collecting Social Security .

 The Bogota will have an After School  story time  with Ms. June.Starting at 3:30p. She will sit and read to any Student wishing to join in.  This will take place in the Children's are on the Library's First Floor.    The Bogota High School Class of 2017 will present their Spring Fashion Show.  This will be a showcase of designs created by the Students of Bogota High School. Their will also be a raffle or prizes donated to support the class of 2017. Tickets are $20 per person which will include 20 Level One  raffle tickets and light refreshments. Ticket may only be purchased in advance.
   This will take place in the Bogota High School Cafeteria with the doors scheduled to open at 6:30p.

The Bogota Public Library will host their first Career Series event. This will focus on anyone interested in a career in the news industry.  Scheduled to appear will be Randall Pinkston who worked as a White House Correspondent for CBS News. And Akram Abi-Hanna who is a Cameraman for ABC News. This will be held from 7:00p-8:00p.

 The Bogota Borough Council will be holding their regular meeting, this is schedule to start at 7:30p. It will take place in the Council Chambers on the second floor at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.   This meeting is open to the public.

Bogota 
    The Bogota Public Library will host a Mini-Makers lab for Students age 4-6. This will be held on the library first floor in the Teen quiet study area. Friday-7-April

     The Bogota  Public Library is conducting a low impact version of their Fit Club. This will take place on Fridays in the second Floor Senior Centre.  It is being run by Library Director Radwa Ali who will lead the class in a series of movement exercises.  It  is scheduled to start at 4:00p , is a free event and open to anyone 18 years or older.  It is recommended anyone attending wear comfortable clothing which allows for easy movements.  Personal  water bottles  and a towel should also be brought.  There is no register required, however anyone attending will be asked to sign a waiver to participate. Saturday-8-April
Bogota 
  The Bogota Recreation Center will host its annual Easter Egg hunt.  This will take place in Olsen Park near the Environmental Walk. The times will be based on the age of the Children.The first  group is any students in Pre K and younger. This will start at 9:00a. The next is Students in Kindergarten to Second grade. They will start at 9:20a. And the final group is for Third and Fourth Grade Student starting at 9:40a. All Students must be in place 10 minutes before their start time.  Only Parents of the youngest Student will be allowed to hunt with their Children.  Children may bring their own baskets, but bags will be available. The Easter Bunny will be on hand to pass out prizes and to pose for photos. The is a free event for all Bogota residents.  For more information please contact  Jim Moore at 201-487-4368. Bogota 
  The Bogota Public Library will host a workshop for young athletes in Bogota  This will be the first of four Saturday's to encourage Students to learn more about how learning any sport can be beneficial in everyday life. It will be in two separate age groups.  One group for anyone ages from 2-4 will run from 10:30a to 11:00a. The second group will be for ages 5-7 and start at 11:15a to 12:00 noon.    The Bogota Volunteer Fire Dept Softball team will host their annual trip to Atlantic City. Cost is $50 which will include round trip transportation, refreshment on the trip. and a $30 voucher at The Tropicana Casio. Buses will leave from the W. Monday& Wed.-10&12-April

 Starting this day the Bogota Public Library will have a members of the Bogota Girls Scout be available for Reading and Tutoring.   Members of the Bogota  Police dept, along with officers from Leonia, Montvale, The FBI , and the Penna Dept of Corrections  will be hosting their annual Social Night.  This is a fundraiser for the 2017 Police Unity Tour.  This will take place from   6:00p to 10:00p at the 101 Pub located at 101 Queen Anne Rd. Bogota, NJ. Tickets are $25 per person and will be available at the door. This is a fundraising event of the police Unity Tour.    The Police Unity Tour was started in 1997 in Florham Park, NJ with 18 riders in order to raise awareness of follow Offices killed in the line of duty, and to help raise fund for the families of fallen Officers.  It now has over 1700 members worldwide and works with National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial and Museum in Washington DC.     The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman  This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.
