On Thursday-26-October the Bogota Soccer Bucs ended their season with a home game against Hawthorne Christian Academy. Bogota took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half when Colin McDonnell came down the left wing and found Jhonan Garcia in the middle of the area. Mr Garcia then placed a shot on the lower right corner to give Bogota the first goal of the game.
After the restart the Defenders applied full pressure against the Bogota defense and control much of the play. This resulted in a series of Corner kicks against the Bucs. When Bogota appeared to clear one more corner it was ruled it needed to be retaken due to being played before the whistle. With this extra set play Hawthorne Christian Academy finally was able to score a tying goal. With the Defenders still controlling most of the play, and errant pass back to the Hawthorne Christian Academy goal gave Bogota a free kick from just outside the 18 foot box. Colin McDonnell tipped the ball to Jhonan Garcia who buried it into the back of the net, for a 2-1 lead.
Hawthorne Christian Academy would again tie the game on a corner kick, and then get a chance to pull ahead with a penalty kick. Bogota goalkeeper David Marose would dive to his right and kick the ball to safety. The Defenders would be later awarded another corner kick and would score the winning goal off of this set play. This made the final score 2-3 in favor of the visitors. Bogota finishes the season with a record of 0-16-1.
After the game the players gathered in the High School Cafeteria for one last event as Vice Principal Kelly DeCongelio thanks the coaches for their time and effort to grow soccer in Bogota, and the players for their hard work and dedication to the game and the school. Senior players Colin McDonnell, David Marose, and Ernesto Gracequi were present with awards to recognise their service to the school.
