April Events

1-April-2018
 Some events scheduled to take place in and around Bogota, for the month of April  starting on Sunday-1-April. Times and dates may change due weather or other circumstances. Please contact the event for the most up to date information.  More events will be added when they become available.

 Starting on Thursday-16 March the  Lt William Ryan Bridge will be closed for replacement.   Construction is schedule continue into April. A tentative opening date is Friday-13-April.

 Starting on Monday-26- February the main parking lot and front entrance to Bogota High School will be closed. This is due to the reconstruction of the Parking lot. Work is scheduled to continue until First week of September-2018.   All access to the High School will be through the side door on the North side of the building.

 Starting on Sunday-1-April the Bogota Library's will have its "Food for Fines"  month. This allows  the payment of any late fees to be paid with food donations. Donations will go to the St. Joseph'd Food Bank until Monday-30-April.

Continuing
    The Bogota Police Dept. will engage in a Distracted Driving Enforcement and Education Campaign starting on Sunday 1-April. This is part  of a National and State wide effort to reduce the number of traffic accents caused by distracted driving. This is titled UDrive. UText. UPay and will continue in Bogota until Saturday-21-April. 


Continuing 
   The Bogota Police Dept has issued a traffic alert for Thursday-16-November. The Suez water company will be working on the main water line under the street.  Work is schedule  to continue until late January -2018. This will occur on W. Main St. between Larch and Elm Aves. This is scheduled to start at 7:00a and run to 4:00p. All parking on W.Main will be suspend during this time. Traffic in both directions may be detoured during this project, please plan alternate routes. Business parking will be permitted on both Larch and Elm Aves and may cause additional congestion on those streets.

The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman  This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.

It is asked anyone wishing to attend please bring their own yoga mat, or towel, and their own water bottle.   Bogota Beautiful will host the their of Zumba Nights in association with Bogart Church.  These will occur every Tuesday starting on13-March. This program is scheduled to continue until Tuesday-24-April  They will be one hour session starting at 7:00p and run by Gisela Medina. This will take place at Bogart Church's new Community space.  Each session will cost will be $10 per person, or $25 for a family of three or more.  Tickets will available at the door. Process from this event will go to help fund Bogota Beautiful project for 2017. Bogart Church is located at 263 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ

    The Bogota Public Library will host a workshop for young athletes in Bogota  This will be the first of four Saturday's to encourage Students to learn more about how learning any sport can be beneficial in everyday life. It will be in two separate age groups.  One group for anyone ages from 2-7 will run from  11:00a. to noon.  All Students who participate must be accompanied by a Parent or Guardian through out the event. This is a free event, but anyone attending is asked to register with the library in advance.

  The Bogota High School Class of 2018 will present their Spring Fashion Show.  This will be a showcase of designs created by the Students of Bogota High School. Their will also be a raffle or prizes donated to support the class of 2017. Tickets are $20 per person which will include 20 Level One  raffle tickets and light refreshments. Ticket may only be purchased in advance.
   This will take place in the Bogota High School Cafeteria with the doors scheduled to open at 6:30p.

   The Bogota Community Garden will hold their first event for the 2018 growing season.  This will be a workshop on how to start seedlings at home. . This will take place at the  Bogota Community Garden and is scheduled to start at 10:00a.  There will also  be information on which plants may be grown together. This will be presented by Gauman Gardens.  There is a suggested donation of $5.00 per person. This open to anyone who wished to learn more about growing their own plants and food.   The Bergen County chapter of Habitat for Humanity will hold a 5 k race race in the Ridgefield Park section of Overpeck Park.  This will be an event to support an raise money for affordable housing in Bergen County.  Entrance fees are $25.00 per person with the proceeds going toward the construction of Veteran and Senior  housing in Washington Township. This is designed for drivers over the age of 50 and will explain update driving rules and teach defensive driving techniques.      The St. Joseph's School in Bogota Will hold their Spirit Sprint 5K Run / Walk. This will start, and finish at the Bogota Recreation Center located at 162 W. Main St Bogota, NJ.  There will be both a Women's And Men's race with 6 different divisions each.  The Divisions are 14 years and younger: 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50 years and older. The top two finishers in each division will be awarded metals.  There will also be a non-competitive  walking event  as well. Entrance fee is $25.00 for racers registering before Friday-30-March.  Fee for those 14 and under will be $20.00.  The first 200 register will receive a t-shirt. Race Day registration fee will be $30.00. Proceeds will go to the Special Olympics and  St. Joseph's School. 
   Medals will be award after all the competitors have returned to the Recreation Center. All racers under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an Adult. Every race must sign a waiver before the race. Parent of anyone under 12 must also sign a wavier.

      Bogota Beautiful's fourth annual Earth Day Clean-up. Starting at 10:00a and will begin at the Bogota Recreation Center located at 162 W. Main St.  Bogota Beautiful is now accepting sign-ups for anyone wishing to be a Volunteer on this day. The number of Volunteers that sign up will help them plan on how many areas will be work on that day. They are also accepting donations of any equipment to  help with the clean up. Gloves, hats, racks, shoves, broom, or any other type of lawn equipment will be accepted. They are also looking for anyone who has their own power equipment to Volunteer their services on that day.  Anyone with tillers, leaf blowers,  power washers and cordless mowers would be welcome.  Bogota Beautiful is also interested in any business who would be able donate refreshment for the Volunteers. Water, snack, fruit, and Sandwiches are the primary need to get the Volunteers going on a late spring afternoon. High School and College Student will be awarded community service credit for volunteering for this event.    The Bogota VFW Post #5561 and the Bogota Mayor and Council will present at redecoration of the Lt William Ryan USMC memorial Bridge. This will be held at the parking lot next to the Olsen Park Environmental Walk , and is scheduled to start at 1:00p. It is excepted to have members of Lt. Ryan families in attendance.

    The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office.   Bogota Beautiful will host  their of Zumba Nights in association with Bogart Church.  These will occur every Tuesday starting on 13-March. This program is scheduled to continue until Tuesday-24-April.  They will be one hour session starting at 7:00p and run by Gisela Medina. This will take place at Bogart Church's new Community space.  Each session will cost will be $10 per person, or $25 for a family of three or more.  Tickets will available at the door. Process from this event will go to help fund Bogota Beautiful project for 2017. Bogart Church is located at 263 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ

 The St. Joseph's School in Bogota Will hold their 11th annual Raffle. This will take place in the St. Joseph's Gymnasium located at  115 E. Ft. Lee Rd Bogota. Doors will open at 6:00p with the drawing starting at 7:30p Admission will be $35 which will include one sheet of tickets, light beverages and desserts.  Anyone attending may bring their own food.  This is an Adult event with anyone under 18 years old will not be allowed to attend. Additional tickets will be available for purchase including  50/50 tickets.

  The Ridgefield Park Elks Lodge # 1506 will be holding a All you can eat Breakfast. This will start at 8:30a and go until 12:00 noon Prices are $10 for Adults and $5 for student 12 and under. The Breakfast will feature an Omelette station, Pancakes, Bacon,Sausage, French toast, & scrambled eggs. There will also be pastries, cereal along with Coffee, Tea, Milk & Juice. It is asked to bring some Non-perishable food items for the Local Food Pantry.
