Money Smart

30-April-2018
On Saturday-28-April the Bogota Public Library held their final event of Money Smart Week. This was a story time that introduce the children of  how money can be use. Youth   Coordinator Tom Skrnich  read a few books that had the main charter learn how money can be saved for something special.  Another was a brief history on money and finance by Dr. Seuss.  Then after a moment to " shake the silly's out"  The Families were then introduced to Grace Ramsey from Bogota Savings Bank. Ms Ramsey had a present of a house shape bank for the Students to keep, and colour. This bank was made of a clear plastic, so even being coloured the Children could still it being filled with the coins they added to it.  They was also an activities booklet that allowed the readers to become familiar the words used in finance.
When asked about account for Children, Ms Ramsey said that her bank did have accounts that could be open in a child's name. A Parent would need to open it, and help with deposits, but  was a way to teach the Children how a saving account works, which could lead into becoming a better user of money for their own purposes.
