High School Awards

6-June -2012
On Monday night Bogota High School had their annual awards dinner for all their student athletes. it was a night where teammates get together once again, with the Seniors sharing one more moment in their High School careers. And where Parents can be proud of  what their kids have accomplished during  the year. In a small school like Bogota many students received multiply letters for each of their individual sport. This not only show the variety of sports offered, but the dedication of the themselves  to compete in different sports as well as being a student first.
The school's sport season starts with Volleyball, Football, along with  Girls & Boys Cross Country. It moves into the Winter with  Girls & Boys  Basketball, Wrestling , and Bowling. Spring brings in the Softball, Baseball teams, and Girls & Boys track.
The Volleyball team successfully defended their State Championship for the 2011 season. Four members of the team, Elise Brackett, Rebecca Kelemen, Julie Topor, And Carly O'Sullivan being named to the All-Bergen team. With Ms. O'Sullivan being name North Jersey Player of the Year. The Football continues to rebuild by posting a season the had them invited to, and winning, their consolation game. The Girls Cross Country team had an undefeated record in League races, and Patriot League, & Group "D" Championships. The Boys team finished wit a 3rd in Patriot League, and 2nd in Group "D". Elizabeth O'Brien paced the Girls team by setting a number of school records.
In the Winter season  Both the Girls & Boys both made the playoff with the girls lasting only the one round. And the Boys being knocked out in the second round. A big highlight for the Girls program is Senior Jillian Marino scoring her 1,000 point in her career. The undermanned Wrestling team won many words of praise from their coach Pat Clark for continuing to work hard every meet. As well as the Bowling team for doing their best and trying to improve as the season went on. As the year turned to spring both Girls & Boys track showed their skills. Along with the Softball, & Baseball programs both team with athletes from earlier sports came up short in their winning, but not in their effort. A highlight for the baseball team, and for the school as a whole, was not the play, or stats, by one student, but for the man himself. When he was called up to receive his letter in Baseball Andrew Gilbert was met with a warm & loud standing ovation. In part for his service to the school, and mainly to continue giving of himself by joining the Marine Corp. after graduation.
Bogota Blog NJ would like to congratulate all the student athletes on their hard work through out the year. Making not only their Parents, but the school, and  the Borough proud of their effort.
On a personal note: Bogota Blog NJ would like to thank Athletic Director Brad DiRupo, Principal Linda Gattuso, Vice Principal Damian Kennedy, & Superintendent Dr. Letizia Pantoliano for their assistance during the year. And all of the Coaches and Student Staff for their time and help.
