Rescue 46

Sat 30-April The Bogota Rescue Squad 46 held a "Boot" raiser for support of the Squad. members of the Squad stationed at the corner of E.Main St,& Palisade Ave, where motorist donated money to the Squad by placing it a boot.

Opening Day

Sat. 30- April  The Bogota Baseball Organization held it's opening day parade today. Starting at Bogota H.S. the parade went along Palisade Ave. the made a right onto Main St,walking through town. There were  many Bogoatians lining the parade route to applauded the many Boys ,and Girls who will participate in the upcoming season.The parade finish at the ball field in Olsen Park,where BBO Pres. Nick Barese wish all the player best of luck for the upcoming season. Then Mayor Pat McHale officially open the season.

Steen School Talent Show

On Thursday 27-April  the L.M.Steen school in Bogota held there 13th annual school talent show. Opened to all students of Steen school the show feature various act displaying the different talent of the children of Bogota. Acts included Singing ,Dancing , and even a Magician. All of which delighted the crowd of follow students ,and proud Parents.

Blockbuster w/ Mr. Roman

On Thursday 29 April the Bogota Public Library hosted another Blockbuster with Mr. Roman. The size if the attendance was such that  four teams where able to be formed. Two teams of four, and two teams of three. Questions included topics of  General Knowledge, Current event, Entertainment, and other subjects. Small prizes where awarded to the winning team, but it was more of an evening of fun ,with learning.

School Budget Vote

The tax assessment was voted down by the a count of 191 against, with 189 voting for it.
In other election news all three candidates that ran unopposed for school board ,with new comer Lisa Pella receiving the most votes of the three.

Blockbuster w/ Mr. Roman

Bogota Library will host Blockbuster with Mr. Roman Thurs. 28-April-2011 at 7:30p. The event will be held upstairs at the Bogota Library 375 Larch Ave. Bogota NJ.  Blockbuster is a trivia quiz game with the teams being made up all who attends,and would like to participate.

Grand Opening

 On Sat . 16-April-2011 the D&M Boutique opened at 322 Elm Ave Bogota. Owned by Aleida Rosario,and Janeth Marin it will made an assortment of clothing  & accessories for women, and young ladies. There idea was to have a clothing store with easy access to the shoppers in Bogota. Located at the corner of W.Main St. and Elm Ave. it is an easy walk from most parts of the Borough. The Boutique is also only a block away from the Larch Ave bus stop of the #83,#182 .&#751 NJ Trainst buses.

Hose Co. #2 Comedy Night

  Bogota Fire Dept. Hose Co.#2 held it's 2nd Annual Comedy night at the Knights of Columbus hall in Teaneck. In spite of a rainy night ,a large crowd turned out to enjoy a Saturday night of entertainment. After dinner & desert the crowd was entrained by three area comics. The show was MC'ed by Joe Fernandes, followed by Mike Gaffney ,then Headlined by Buddy Flip.

Baseball Opener

 The Bogota Baseball Organization will have it's opening day Sat. 30- April-2011. There will be an Parade of teams starting in front of the High School on Henry Luthin Pl. at 8:00 a. The rout will processed  onto Palisade Ave. making a right onto Main St. It will continue on Main St. to end at the Ball field in Olsen Park. Games will start after opening remarks.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Borough of Bogota  in cooperation with the Rec. Dept. held it's annual egg hunt at Olsen Park along the walk-way bridge. There where 3 categories of hunters . The first to go where the Pre-school & toddlers chance to look for prized eggs. Then the Kindergartners up to 2nd Graders had a turn to hunt. Finally 3rd Graders & up were allowed to have a chance to join the fun.  Mayor McHale  along with the Easter Bunny where in attendants to hand out prizes ,and some extra treats to the kids who participated.

Operation Take-Back

On Sat. 30 April the Bogota Police dept. is having  a day to dispose of all old ,or unused medications. Any person can bring those medications to the Police Headquarters lobby between 10:00 a to 2:00p. The Headquarters lobby on the W.Broad St side of the Borough Hall. Medications can simply drop off in the foyer  of the Police Dept. no registration ,or sign-in is required.

Board of Education Meeting

The 12-April meeting of the Bogota Board of Education meeting had a larger then usual turn out after Men's varsity Basket Ball coach Jay Mahoney  offered his resignation after 32 years of service. Mr. Mahoney will remain Head Coach of the Schools Cross Country squad. However, there was a large turn out to support Mr. Mahoney to keep his tenure of Head Coach for the Men's Basket-Ball team as well.  The crowd ,which number close to 100 included  Family& Friends. There was also many current Students, Teachers from all of the public schools in the Borough. Plus a number of former students and Coaches from rival schools. Notable Alumni include James Lynch (07) a cancer survivor who Coach Mahoney has kept in touch with. Donald Osboure (90) who has coach against his former HS Coach. And former Bergen County Sheriff Leo McGuire (77).
