Harlem Wizards' game First Half

 12-April-2024

…. Mr. Arlington would control the tip-off and feed Superintendent Mr. Kennedy for the first basket of the game. The teams would match each other scores during the time the clock was running. There would be pauses in the play to take a dance break, or other activities. There would be moments when Wizard’s players wandered into the stands and reappear with a new item. One of these times King Arthur walked on the court with a woman’s bag. Once the owner had been found she was asked to come down for a prize. After she had a quick dance with King Arthur, a box was delivered to her. It was said there is a gift for her inside. Once opened, Giant popped out with her bag and a souvenir basketball. When one of the Wizards were “fouled” Ms. DeCongelio defended her no call and with the player revived played resumed. After more dancing, a half-court shot challenge took place. When a water break was needed there was a spilling of liquid on a few people sitting in the front row. Then the Wizards lined up for a football game, with time running down they would score one more basket. After this the half came to an end. Then Ms. DeCongelio  awarded Mr. Kennedy five points after he made a half court basket. This allowed Bogota to earn a 35 to 31 lead before the break.

Harlem Wizard's Basketball Pregame

 12-April-2024

On Thursday-11-April, the Lillian M Steen School, in Bogota, sponsored a fundraising basketball game with the Harlem Wizards. This took place on the Jay Mahoney Court in Speary Gym. The visitors would play the Staff and Faculty from the Bogota School District. This was the final event in the Wiz Fit program at Steen School in the month April and March.
Before the game started, Wizard’s players Jet and Top-Flight showed the “WizKids” a few special moves they could do to impress Family and Friends. The players also wanted to get the Students excited for the game to help the Audience also show enthusiasm during the contest. When the Students returned to the court, Fresh Prince led them in some pre-game warm-ups. This was followed by the Bogota Teachers lining-up so they could high five the Students for their effort. The Students enjoyed the move so much that they went back for a second round of hand slaps. Both teams and the “WizKids” gathered at Centre Court for a group cheer. As tip-off time moved closer, members of the Wizards began to interact with the fans in the bleachers. This ranged from impromptu dancing with a few members of the audience. There was also bit of cheering and singing to get the fans into the game spirit.
To start the game, Referee Steen Principal Ms. DeCongelio, brought Steen Teacher Ms. Skrnich and Wizard’s Giant to the Center Circle. While Giant was distracted Ms. Shrnich was replaced by High School Councilor Mr. Arlington. Then Ms. DeCongelio lifted the ball into play and…
