Scarlet/Bucs Wrestling

 10-April-2021   

  On Friday-9-April the Bogota -Ridgefield Park Scarlet/Bucs Wrestling team hosted the Weehawken Indians at Speary Gym.  This would be the final home match in Bogota for the 2021 season.
 Of the 14 bouts scheduled 7 took place. Bogota -Ridgefield Park Wrestlers won the match by the score of 56-11.  The Scarlet/Bucs would win 5 boutsDerek Bauernschmidt at 106 lbs,  Josh Gesmundo at 132 lbs and, Kaleb Maldanado at 285 lbs would win by  Pinfalls. Justin Cazar 138 lbs  won by a 9-4  Decision. With Gabriel Nunez at 152 lbs scoring at Major Decision by a 10-1.  The Scarlet/Bucs, including their win at Becton on 7-April, record is now 7-4
  Weehawken would have Pinfall wins byJuan Santos at 195 lbs. With Tristen Fitzgerald recording at Technical Fall at 17-1
  Two Scarlet/Bucs Women Wrestlers Kayla Zeppetelli, and Theresa  Zeppetelli will compete at the NJSIAA Girls Wrestling State Championships on Saturday-10-April. This will take place at Phillipsburg. The first bouts are scheduled to start at 10:00a.

Senior Day

 9-April-2021

 On Thursday-8-April the Bogota Lady Bucs Volleyball played their final scheduled home match of the 2021 season. They hosted the Dwight-Englewood Lady Bulldogs at Speary Gym, before the first serve the four Bogota Seniors were recognized by Head Coach Brad DiRupo. Carmen Cruz, Ciara Feliz, Kiara Polanco, and Amber Vazquez each were called forward by their Coach who expressed his thoughts and feeling about the Varsity career of these players.
   The match started with Dwight-Englewood serving  and scoring first. Soon after the set would be tied at 3-3. Bogota’s Kiara Polanco would then serve seven point run to give Bogota the lead.  Dwight-Englewood’s  Isabella Brown had her own service run to close the gap to four points. The Lady Bucs then move far enough ahead behind the serving of Amber Vazquez. This allowed Bogota to have a 25-14 first set win. 
  The second set started with Angelina Buhler staking Bogota to a five point lead. The Lady Bulldogs drew closer, midway through the second set.  Ms. Buhler again had a small service run to the home team ahead. At the end of the set  Kiara Polanco would push Bogota to the finish and a 25-13  second set win. This allowed the Lady Bucs to get a 2-0 match win. Bogota’s record is now 5-0.
    Lady Bucs’ Kiara Polanco had a match high with 14 Kills and 4 Aces.  Amber Vazquez  had 12 Assists, 6 Digs. Ciara Feliz and Angelina Buhler  would also record 6 Digs. Angelina Buhler had match high with 10 Service points.  Ashanna Caviness scored 4 Blocks. For Dwight-Englewood, Isabella Brown had 6 Kills, 7 Digs, and 2 Aces. Gabreille Barber had 5 Assists and 5 Service Points.
   The Lady Bucs next play on Saturday-10-April at Dwight-Englewood. The first serve is scheduled for 11:00a with the Junior Varsity match to follow. Due to the current health situation only Family members of the Home School will be allowed to attend in person.   Bogota will enter the  New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Women's Volleyball North 1, Group 1 Tournament as the 11th seed. They will travel to Kinnelon on Tuesday-13 April for the opening round match. Start time will be announced later.

Cakes and More

 8-April-2021
 On Wednesday-7-April “Karla Jimenez Cakes & More”opened their doors to the public. Located at 78 W. Main St. in Bogota this bakery is run by Ms. Karla Jimenez and Mr. Manuel Jimenez. This Wife and Husband team are combining their passion for baking and artistic style to create edible treats. While studying business administration in the Dominican Republic, Ms. Jimenez would use her Mother’s Dominican Cake recipe.  As her work outgrew the families apartment kitchen, the couple saw the need to expand. With Mr.  Jimenez’s graphic design talents the pair  can now offer  a wide range of goods.
  The a section of items available are both Sweet and Savory. Freshly baked deserts items will include a number of different cakes available by the slice. The varieties presently being made at Dominican, Chocolate Mouse, Red Velvet, Vanilla and Carrot  cake. The Cupcake styles on hand are the same as the cake slices in a compact form. Tres Leches cakes along with Brownies and Croissant are also available. 
   The Savory treats menu will have a Empanadas and Mini Puff pie filled with Beef, Chicken or a Cheese mixture. Chicken Croquetas, Beef  Kipes and savory filled croissant round out the menu.
   Drinks available are Coffees, with the option of Americano, Espresso and Coratado, along with Lattes made to order. There is also a section of Teas and cold drinks on hand.
   Menu items are all priced at under $5.00 and can be taken out, with very limited seating at present.
  “Karla Jimenez Cakes & More” also specializes in custom made cakes for all occasions. 
They are located at 78 W. Main St Bogota, NJ and are open stating at 10:00a six days a week. regular hours are until 5:00p the Thursday and Friday until 7:00p and Saturady had an 8:00p closing.

The Bergen County Community testing site for covid-19 will continue to be open at the Bergen Community College in the Lot B location. This is being sponsored by Bergen County in cooperation with the New Bridge Medical Center. Testing will continue of various days until Saturday-1-May. Anyone wishing to revive a test must pre-register. This will be open starting at 9:00a to 2:30p, with check-in starting at 8:00p This will be a nasal swab test with results available in 24 hours.
All people taking a test must have proper identification, Accepted forms of ID are a driver’s license or identification card, Social Security card, passport, or birth certificate. For those without legal status, a foreign passport is accepted. Residents also have to show proof they live or work in Bergen County. An insurance card is also required, again residents who do not have health insurance will still be able to get tested.
In addition the Bergen County site at the New Bridge Medical Center are available to the General Public regardless of showing, or not showing symptoms. The New Bridge testing site requires a pre-register.

 The organization Never Alone Again Domestic Violence Organization & Resource Center (NAAG) will provide hot meals to go every Friday until 11-May. These will be provided by various local restaurants from Bergen County. There will be one meal for each Family Member. Distribution will start at 5:30p from their resource centre located at  668 American Legion Dr. Teaneck, NJ.

  The Township of Teaneck will be holding their Town Wide garage sale. It will continue on Sunday-11-April. The selling will start at 8:00a and run until 6:00p for both days. All residents are invited to participate in a town-wide garage sale at their private residence.
