Homecoming 2019

15-September-2019
 With the Fall Varsity Sports season well underway, plans are being finalized for the first Bogota Sports Homecoming weekend. This is in conjunction with the the Bogota 125th Anniversary.  Several events are being planned for the weekend starting on Friday-4-October and running until Sunday-6-October.  There will be events featuring all the fall Varsity Sports along the Bogota Marching Buccaneer Band and Bogota Basketball.
Many event will be included with the purchase of an " Alumni Wristbands". These wristbands will be price at $20.00 per person with the process going to local organizations. Children aged 16 and under will be included when accompanied by the purchasing Parent. A number of local restaurants will also offer discounts for those wearing the wristband that weekend.
   On Thursday-3-Oct
   At the 7:00p the Bogota Soccer Bucs will host Cresskill at Zakrzewski Field in Olsen Park 
   On Friday-4-Oct.
   At 4:00p there will be a Lady Bucs Volleyball match against Waldwick in Speary Gym.  There also be an Alumni Match and other Ceremonies.
   At 6:30p there will be a Pep Rally and Bonfire  for the Fall varsity Sports teams. This will be held at Lady Buc Field in Olsen Park.
   At 8:00p there will be a BUCSteak dinner at the Bogota VFW post #5561. Tickets for this event are tentative  price at $50.00 per person. Process from this event will go to the Bogota Athletic Hall of Fame.
  On Saturday-5-October
   At 9:00a there will be an High School Open House and Breakfast. This will be held in the High School Cafeteria with tours of the school to follow. This will be a wristband event. Tickets will also be available for $5.00 per person at the door.
  At 10:00a to 12:00n there will be a historical bus tour of the Borough narrated by Henry Komorowski.
  At 12:30p the Bogota Basketball  Bucs Alumni game. This will feature both Alumni  Women and Men player, Coaches, and other Guest. This will take place on the Jay Mahoney Court in Speary Gym. This will be a wristband event. Tickets will also be available for $5.00 per person at the door.
  At 3:00p a pre-game Tailgating Buffet at the Alumni tent near Feigel Field.  This will be a wristband event. Tickets will also be available for $10.00 per person at the door.
 At 6:00p Bogota Football Bucs host Weehawken at Feigel Field. Ticket are price at $3.00 at the gate.
  Following the game an Post game Homecoming party at the 101 Pub. 
  On Sunday-6-October 
  At 9:00a the Bogota Cross Country Bucs will have an Alumni Run at Fiegel Field.
  At 11:00a there will be a Alumni Student and Teacher social in front of Bogota Borough Hall.

Bogota Cross Country

15-September-2019
 On Saturday-14-September the Bogota Cross Country Bucs competed in the Back to the Mountain Invitational at the Garret Mountain Reservation. Bogota would enter squads in both the Women's and Men's Varsity "B" division. Along with the Women's and Men's Junior Varsity races. In the Women's Varsity "B" race Amandin Fernandez would be the highest Lay Bucs finisher coming in at 41st place overall.  Maryann Gesmundo was the only other Bogota runner to place in the top 50, out of the 107 runners at 48th place.  The Lady Bucs as a team finish 9th out of the 13 team field.
  In the Men's Varsity "B" race Jesus Michel would place 4th over all,  in a group of  131 runners. The other top finishers for the Bucs were Dylan LeMay  in 34th ,  Sasha Mehta at  42nd, and Andrew Cazar in  44th. As a team Bogota would finish 5th  in the 17 team field.
  In the Women's Small School Junior Varsity race,  Denisse Sotomayor came in  at 28th place for Bogota. Followed by  Kaylin Torres in 51st  and  Aisling O'Hagan in 52nd for Bogota. This was competed by 71 total runners.  Out of a field of 7 total teams Bogota would place in 6th.
    In the Men's Small School Junior Varsity race, with 135 racers, the Bucs  Justin Cazar would finish in 12th. Other Bogota runners in the top 50 were Alexis Fernandez  in 16th,  Josemanue Corniel in 28th, and  Angel Perez in  35th . As a team Bogota placed 5th out the 13 team field. 
  Bogota will next compete on Wednesday-18-September against Bergen Arts & Science, Ridgefield,  and  Wood-Ridge at Darlington Park. the races are scheduled to start at 4:35p

  This will be the first day of the Healthy Running Series  for Bogota. Healthy Kids Running Series a nonprofit organization that gets boys and girls Pre-K through Middle School active, feel accomplished and lays the foundation for a healthy lifestyle, compete in their first race of the five-consecutive-week Series. This will take place at Fiegel Field starting at 4:30p. It will run for 5 straight weeks ending on Sunday 13-October. Fees start at $10.00 for one race. or $35 for the entire series of five races.  The Bogota Public  Library will have their Youth's Sewing Club meeting.  This is  open to  Students ages 9-18.  This will teach anyone the art of sewing. There will be a chance to learn machine, and hand sewing as well as shown different project and types of material. The next meeting  of the Bogota Test Kitchen will be held in the second floor of the Bogota Library. At this meeting members are to bring a recipe from this month book, and serve it to the other members as a potluck dinner. While over dinner members can discuss the book, why the chose their dish, and what was it like in the cooking process.   This is a free event and open to anyone over the age of 18 years old.  Anyone wishing to participate must register before hand, with the cookbook of the month available at the Library.      The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.

The Bogota Public Library will hold the second part of a lecture about Ellis Island. This will be presented by Mario Medici, who will discuss and show the history of the well known immigrate entrance to the new World. There will also be information on how to search the database for family and friends who were processed through Ellis Island.  This is scheduled to start at 7:00p.

Thursday-Sunday-19 to 22-September

Starting on Thursday 19-Sept. and going until Sunday -22- Sept. The St.Joseph's Church will hold their 13th annual Carnival and Food Festival.  Rides will open at 6:00p and run until 10:00p Weekdays, and 11:00p on Weekends. 
They are also looking for Volunteers to help with each day of the Carnival.  For more information, or to register to volunteer  please contact Carol Bobat at 201-3425976. This will take place in the parking lot across from the Church located at Palisade Ave. & E. Ft. Lee Rd
  Each night of the festival the Bogota Police will close Palisade Ave from 6:00p-10:00p  in both directions. This will extend from E. Ft. Lee Rd to E. Main Sts. Including parts of Hill St. and 4th Pl.

Teaneck, NJ
This the Teaneck Farmers Market will be open for this season. Shoppers will be able purchase locally grown  and produced food items.  This annual event will be every Thursday from June to the end of October. The stand open at 12:00 noon and continue until 6:00p   The Teaneck Farmers Market is located in the municipal parking lot along Beverly Rd Teaneck, NJ. There is additional parking available near by.

  The Band Parents will hold their annual  Town Wide Garage Sale will be on Saturday-21-September.   It will run from 10:00a to 4:00p rain or shine. The cost to participate is $15.00 this will allow the seller to have their address listed on the official garage sale map and  they will receive yard sign for their address show that are a participant. Process from the registration fee will go to help support the Bogota High School Marching Buccaneer Band.
