St. Joseph's Volleyball

  On Saturday-28-September the St. Joseph's School in Bogota played their first ever Home Match in Middle School Volleyball.  A new program this year, St. Joseph's will have a Womens team in the Fall Season. There will also be a Men's team that will play in the Spring. Both groups will have three division. What is being call Junior Varsity will be on squad for 5th Grade Students. and another for 6th Grade Students. The Varsity team will consist of Middle School age Students in 7th & 8th Grade. 
   St. Joseph's Principal  Ms. Stella Scarano  brought the idea of starting a Volleyball program to the school with the Home School Association last year. Over the Summer the HSA contacted the Newark Dioceses to find out what programs they have that St. Joseph's could join.  St. Joseph's will play in the CYO Bergen County League. Being a new team St. Joseph's  will have a limited number of Home Match. The varsity team will be coached by Mr. Thomas Mann.
    This first home Match was against the Notre Dame Lady Knights from Palisades Park NJ.  Both teams would score early points off of missed serves. With some coming of the low ceiling in St. Joseph's Gym. By the end of the first set, and into the second set, the players learn how to use the space given.  The play started to be more continuous as the match went on.  By the middle of the second set the teams would have number rallies were competed between serves.  The Match finished and Notre Dame would win  a score of 2-0 ( 25-14: 25-7)
