Restaurant openings

31-August-2020
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced on Monday-31-August that restaurants in the State of New Jersey can resume indoor dinning. This will be inactive on Friday-4-September. The requirements will be all facilities can only operate at 25% of indoor capacity. Establishment must maintaine a safe distance between tables. Other restriction are based on many of the same guidelines as outdoor dinning enacted in early July.
These include:
-Patrons required to wear masks unless they are eating, under the age of 2, or have a health issue.
Staff members required to wear masks.
Tables spaced at least 6 feet apart.
Enhanced sanitation.
Guests placing orders only at a table and staffers bringing food and beverages only to tables.
Patrons barred from walking around while eating.
Limiting seating to a maximum of 8 customers per table — unless from an immediate family or the same household.
Encouraging reservations for greater control of customer traffic.
Requiring customers to provide a phone number if making a reservation to facilitate contact tracing.
Additionally Governor Murphy signed legislation which allows alcoholic beverages to be consumed from open containers on certain outdoor property located within the Atlantic City Tourism District.  This will allow pedestrians to carry and consume open containers of alcoholic beverages. Areas included will be portions of the beach, boardwalk, and other areas within the Atlantic City Tourism District, in which pedestrians are permitted to carry and consume open containers of alcoholic beverages.
Another reopening on the same day is movie theatres. They will have a maximum capacity of 25 %, up to 150 patrons. For multiplex cinemas each screening room can hold 25% of capacity. Only tickets purchased together will be allowed adjacent seating. All other groups must be separated by at least six feet. All patrons and staff must wear masks  at all times.

September Openings

30-August-2020
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced on Wednesday-26-August that some more business will be allowed to open.  These include indoor gyms and amusements facilities may restart accepting costumers on Tuesday-1-September. The requirements for gyms to open include operating at 25% of indoor capacity, restrictions on indoor group fitness classes—such as spin classes—to one person for every 200-sq. ft. of space in the room, masks or face coverings must be worn at all times inside the gym by staff as well as gym goers and equipment must be six feet apart.
Additionally, people must sign a form when they enter the gym that says they will adhere to the safety guidelines. The businesses are mandated to keep a log of workers and clients, including names and phone numbers, so the information could be made available to contact tracers in the event there’s a covid-19 exposure at the facility. Showers will not be allowed at gyms, costumers are encouraged to arrive and leave in their workout clothes and the use of locker rooms at facilities would be limited.
For indoor amusement, the guidelines will be similar to those for indoor sport activities and outdoor amusements, including capacity limits, face masks and social distancing.  The most notable venue that is allowed to reopen is American Dream Mall in East Rutherford.  No specific guidelines or time table for indoor dinning , or movie theatres were announced at that time.
Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco allowed  all playgrounds in the Bergen County Parks System to reopen on Saturday-29-August.  Playgrounds will reopen with newly installed hand sanitizing dispensers and signage advising patrons to practice proper hygiene and social distancing protocols from the CDC. The Bergen County Parks System features fifteen playgrounds across the county. All playgrounds throughout the Bergen County Parks System have been closed since March as a measure to reduce high touch scenarios in effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.  Locally this includes Overpeck Park in both Leonia and Ridgefield Park

Local and municipal parks and playgrounds had the option of reopening in late June.
