Ground-breaking

8-October-2024
On Friday-4-October, the Bogota Public School District held a ceremonial groundbreaking for the new Bogota Sports Complex. This took place in front of the Field House at the location of a proposed Welcome Plaza. With a background of heavy construction equipment and eleven shovels with Bogota Purple hard hats, Board President Mr. Frank Miranda addressed the crowd that came to attend the event. He first asked the Superintendent Mr. Damian Kennedy,  Board of Trustees, School Officials,  and managers from Solutions Architecture to step forward. He thanked the Trustees for their effort in approving the idea of revamping the sports  fields. Then Mr. Miranda talked about the work done by the Boards Professionals, in order to make sure every part of the project was done correctly. The employees of Solutions Architecture with their support in creating the design. He also acknowledge the work with the Borough of Bogota Council and Mayor along with the other officials to have a joint vision of allowing the complex to extend into Olsen Park. Finally, Mr. Miranda thanked the residents of Bogota for voting to approve the referendum to authorize the District to finance the school building renovations and the redevelopment of the sports field.
Then Superintendent Kennedy addressed the audience. He explained how the sports complex is just one part of the larger vision in improving the Bogota Public Schools.  When all the projects have been completed it will enhance the total education for all the Students in Bogota. Superintendent Kennedy also thanked the district staff, the architecture and construction companies, local partnerships, and the citizens of Bogota for their assistance in work on all the projects for the school district.
After this, members of the board and a few members of the Borough Council dug out a few shovel-fulls of dirt to mark the creation of the new Bogota Sports Complex.
