Bogota Tree

29-November-2019

  Bogota Beautiful has been invited to decorate the Bogota tree at the 2019 Bergen County Winter Wonderland. Bogota Beautiful is looking for volunteers to assist them in trimming the tree in Bogota Purple and Bucs Gold.  This will take place during the first week of December starting on Tuesday-3-December. Decorating must be complete by early afternoon on Friday-6-December. A representative from Bogota Beautiful is schedule to on hand to oversee the tree trimming. They are planning to have photos of the Borough as the main focus of the design. This is to highlight the Borough of Bogota to those who attended the Winter Wonderland.  For more information  on volunteering for this or any  other Bogota Beautiful project.    The 2019 Bergen County Winter Wonderland is a six week Holiday event in Van Shaun Park in Paramus, NJ. The opening day is Friday-6-December at 4:00p. The event will continue until Sunday-5-January-2020 closing at 7:00p. The event will be open every weekend Friday to Sunday. It will be open 6 days a week starting on Friday-20-December. It will be closed on Christmas Day and 2-January.

    Monday-1- October will be the start of Leaf Season. Home Owners are allowed to place raked, leaves and grass cutting  in the street , along the curb, in front of their residents.  It is ask that the piles be placed in such a way as not to interfere with traffic, and away from storm sewers and drain to prevent flooding , or other water build-up. Leaf Season is schedule to end on Monday -16- December after that date all yard waste must be placed in brown leaf bags for pick-up.

   Starting on Monday-18-November the Bogota Public Library will have a Autumn "Food for Fines" drive.  This will run until Saturday-30-November. Any Library card holder which has  a late fee will be able to donate a food item and receive a $1.00 credit per item donated.  All food donation must be a non-perishable item that is not past its expiration date. Items must be either can, or boxed good that are not damaged. Only non-refrigerated items will be accepted. All donation will go to the St. Joseph's of Bogota food bank.  Anyone wishing to make a cash donation should make them directly to the St. Joseph's food bank.
  Library material that are lost, or damaged and need to be replace will not be eligible for this program. Materials given out on a different Library card can not to used this this program. Only those taking out material on a card from the Bogota Public Library can  have the late fee be removed with a food donation.

   The Bogota  Public Library  host their Toddler play group. This is an opportunity for   young children and their Parents to play and relax in a safe area. The Bogota Public  Library will have their Youth's Sewing Club meeting.  This is  open to  Students ages 9-18.  This will teach anyone the art of sewing. There will be a chance to learn machine, and hand sewing as well as shown different project and types of material.  The Bogota Junior / Senior High School will induct it's next class to the National  Honor Society. Students from the High School grades will be recognized for having that met the high standards of the  National  Honor Society.
    These  Students will have  met the requirements include  for Scholarship: a cumulative GPA of 85,  3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent standard of excellence. Along with achievements  in   Community Service, Leadership, and overall Character. The ceremony will take place in the Bogota High School Auditorium and begin at 6:00p

    The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.
