Closings

 31-January-2021

  A partial list of closing due to the Winter Storm for Monday-1-February.
-The E. Roy Bixby School in Bogota will be closed for in-person learning for two weeks. All classes will be done by remote learning until further  notice. There will also be not Grab and Go Lunches available during this time.  
- Bogota High School and Lillian M. Steen will  only have remote learning , and only a half day session. There will also be not Grab and Go Lunches  on Monday. 
-The Bogota Police Department has active the emergency parking restriction for the upcoming Winter storm.  This means Overnight parking rules are suspended except where designated.  All  vehicles in violation will be removed from the street.
- The Bogota Public Library will be closed
-  New Jersey Governor  Phil Murphy  has declared a State of Emergency In Response to Expected Winter Storm. State Offices Closed on Monday, February 1st for Non-Weather Essential Personnel. All Six Vaccine Mega-Sites Closed Monday.

NJ TRANSIT
buses, rail (except the Atlantic City Rail Line), light rail and Access Link service will be temporarily suspended system wide for the entire service day on Monday, February 1st due to the significant expected impacts of the snow storm.
- New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio tonight issued a state of emergency ahead of the snow storm, including restrictions on non-essential travel beginning 6:00 A.M. on Monday, February 1st.

Scarlet Basketball

31-January-2021 

   On Saturday the Men's Basketball Scarlets travel to Westwood to play the Cardinals. The original game, on this day was scheduled to be at Bergenfield was postponed. The trip for the Westwood was  game was added. The Cardinals took the lead early in the first quarter and finished those eight minutes with a 15-12 lead. Westwood extended their advantage by halftime to go into the break leading to seven points.  After the re-start Westwood's defense allowed the Cardinal grow their lead to 46-33 by three- quater time. The final eight minutes saw the Scarlets  played a stronger game and made the most of their shot to begin to close the points margin. With under a minute left in the game  Ridgefield Park  pulled to with 5 points of the home team.  An unforced error by  Westwood gave the Scarlet possession in the offensive end.  A jump-shot from inside the arc cut the lead down to 3. Ridgefield Park would force another turn-over only to have the Cardinal battle for a jump ball and be given that possession.  As time drew closer to the end Ridgefield Park was forced to foul.  With Westwood in the Double bonus they made the first  two.  When the second shot missing  Ridgefield Park  was able to grab the rebound and sprint down the court and pull to within two points. But would expire for any more playing could take place. Westwood held on to a 52-50 win. Ridgefield Park's  record is now 1-1. The Scarlets Jenci Reyes and Romel Camilo scored game highs with with 16 Points each. Connor Roche had a team high of 13 Points for the Cardinals.
  The Men's Basketball Scarlets play on Tuesday-2-February vs Dwight-Morrow  on the Dr. John C Richardson Court 7:00p  Junior Varsity game precedes at 5:30p. Freshman vs Elmwood Park game at 4:00p. Due to the current health situation no fans will be allow to attend this game in person. the game will be lived streamed a:t Ridgefield Park Athletics

  The Bogota Police Department has active the emergency parking restriction for the upcoming Winter storm.  This means Overnight parking rules are suspended except where designated.  All  vehicles in violation will be removed from the street.  Parking will be allowed in the following areas:       
-WEST SIDE OF TOWN: (HACKENSACK SIDE)
ALL AND ONLY AREAS WHERE OVERNIGHT PARKING IS PERMITTED.
THIS INCLUDES:
ORCHARD TERRACE (WEST SIDE OF STREET)
WEST FORT LEE ROAD (NORTH SIDE OF STREET)
WEST GROVE STREET (BETWEEN AVE AND LINDEN AVE)
AND THE WEST SIDE OF LARCH AVENUE
-EAST SIDE: (TEANECK SIDE)
ALL AND ONLY AREAS WHERE OVERNIGHT PARKING IS PERMITTED. 
THIS INCLUDES:
WEST SHORE AVENUE (ANGLED PARKING ONLY, RAILROAD TRACKSIDE)

  No Parking on Borough Streets  after 2" or more of snow has fallen.  Vehicles will be towed and issued summonses.

 18 hours after the snow fall has stopped Residents and Business must clear and remove snow from Sidewalks and Steps. Dumping snow in the street is not permitted.  ORDINANCE # 3-5.1

Starting on Thursday-4-February 
Bergen County
   Starting on Thursday-4-February the Bergen County Community testing site for covid-19 will re-open at the Bergen Community College in the Lot B location. This is being sponsored by Bergen County in cooperation with the New Bridge Medical Center. Testing will continue of various days until Thursday-25-February. Anyone wishing to revive a test must pre-register. This will be open starting at 9:00a to 2:30p, with check-in starting at 8:00p This will be a nasal swab test with results available in 24 hours. 
All people taking a test must have proper identification, Accepted forms of ID are a driver’s license or identification card, Social Security card, passport, or birth certificate. For those without legal status, a foreign passport is accepted. Residents also have to show proof they live or work in Bergen County. An insurance card is also required, again residents who do not have health insurance will still be able to get tested.
In addition the Bergen County site at the New Bridge Medical Center are available to the General Public regardless of showing, or not showing symptoms. The New Bridge testing site requires a pre-register.

The Bogota Police Department, in partnership with the Bergen County Community Engagement Task Force, is sponsoring a Youth Writing Contest open to all 11th and 12th Grade students attending Bogota Public Schools.
The 1,000 word essay topic is “Why is it important for members of the community to engage with Police Departments?”.
The top three essays will be awarded prizes. 1st prize, a Chromebook Laptop, 2nd and 3rd place prize, a $50 Amazon Gift Car

The Ridgefield Park Arts Association announced a Community activity open to the public.  They are encouraging any to build their own snowwomen, snowmen,snow children or even snow pets. Until there enough natural material on the ground the creations can be made out of what the artist feels like using.  This is an opportunity to be creative and have some fun this winter. Creations can be display on the outside of the resident , or simply placed in a window.  Once finished and on display, the  Ridgefield Park Arts Association asked everyone to  take a picture and send to:  ridgefieldparkarts@gmail.com

The Rectory Office will be closed for 10 days. The Rectory will re-open on Monday, February 1st. The Church will also be closed for 10 days. All public worship in Church will be suspended. The Church will also re-open on Monday, February 1st.
During this quarantine period, they will stream daily Mass, Monday - Saturday at 9am, and the weekend Masses in English on Saturday evening at 5pm and Sunday morning at 10am. Ridgefield Park NJ
  The Ridgefield Park Elks lodge #1506 will host a Saturday Night Dinner and Bingo.
The dinner will be Pierogies and Kielbasa  with Salad and Dessert. This is a $10.00 donation fee per order. Orders must be made in advance and are available for Dinning, Pick-up, or in town deliveries. This will run from 5:00p to 6:30p
Bingo is scheduled to start at 7:00p 
Reservations must be made in advance. Price of Bingo is based on the number of boards order.
Space distancing and Masks are required
