Bogota Borough Council Meeting

26-June-2020
On Thursday-25-June The Bogota Borough Council held their second meeting for the Month of June. To start the meeting there was a report about to approve the application of a bid grant for funding of a new sporting complex in the Eastern side of Olsen Park. The vote to apply for the Grant passed by a 4-2 vote.  Then there was an update on the latest soil survey done in Olsen Park to find a stable location for a new Community Centre. The report determined the site of the current Recreation Centre is a mixture of clay deposits cause by river sediments. It was suggested that a process call Dynamic Compaction would be the most cost effective solution. Dynamic Compaction is the same technique to stabilize the soil under the River Club (renamed The Atwater) development.  If a budget and plans are approved by Council initial work could possible begin after Labor Day of this year. The Council approved the engineering company to which performed the survey to supervise the process by an unanimous vote.
Following this the Council approved all the items on the consent agenda by  unanimous vote. Some of the more note worthy items where the approval of the contract to renovate the Bogota Public Library’s first floor rest rooms.

It was also stated the Bogota Department of health is conducting twice week inspection of all outdoor dinning locations.
In his report Mayor Chris Kelemen announced the Bergen County testing will continue. And that a mobile testing unit will be station for both Bogota and Ridgefield Park. This is scheduled for Wednesday-8-July time and location will be announced later. Voting in the New Jersey Primary Election will be on Tuesday-7-July. Mail in ballots must be post mark before 2:00p on Tuesday-7-July. The Bogota Recreation Centre is available for in person voting only by anyone with a Handicap or other special needs.
