Bogota Board of Education

   On Tuesday-9-June the Bogota Board of Education held its first meeting for the month of June. In his Superintendent report Mr. Damien Kennedy made several announcements. One was to confirm the schedules for a number of virtual ceremonies in the next few days. All the events are scheduled to start at 6:30p, with access at; https://livestream.com/dynamicproductionsusa/bogotaawards.  The first will be the Senior awards Night on Wednesday-10-June. This will combine the Sports, Arts, and Academic award in one presentation.   A video will be shown to announce the scholarships awarded to the Students of the class of 2020. The awards won in the field of Fine Arts, and honours achieved by the Student Athletes from Bogota High School. 
   On Thursday 11-June the Lillian M. Steen School will hold their sixth grade graduation ceremony.
   On Friday-12-June the E. Roy Bixby School will hold their sixth grade graduation ceremony.
   On Monday-15-June the Bogota High School will hold their Commencement ceremony for the Class of 2020.
 Superintendent Kennedy then talked about the announcement by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy expanding the limit on attendance at indoor and outdoor event. With the possibility to allow 500 people in outdoor venues the School District is study the idea to allow a limited ceremony at Feigel Field. Any planning will depend on guild-lines that will be set by the State of New Jersey.
  Superintendent Kennedy mentioned the Black Lives Matter protest that occurred earlier in the day. He said he was proud of how many current and former Students, Parents, and Facility to the time to join this. He added that the Bogota Public School District will try and continue this type of involved of Racial Equality on a regular basis. He included that fact that Bogota has one of the more ethically diverse School System in the State and is looking to find ways to have open discussions to maintain  and improve  Racial Equality and understanding. 
  It was also announced that a system is in place which will allow Student to retrieve any Personal Items left in the School Building in March, and to return school Material to the District at that time.  More detail will be announced. 
   Next the Board of Trustees considered the items on the consent agenda. These and all other agenda items will be formally approved at the next Board of Education meeting.  One suggestion made was to add the phrase  that will allow the Board of Education to adjust, or renegotiate compensation and fees on approved contract if virtual learning is continued into the next school year.
    The next Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Tuesday-16-June at 7:00p This would be a virtual meeting with information on how to view this meeting will follow. Updates and announcements from the Bogota Board of Education will be available at:  https://www.bogotaboe.com
