Results from Bogota Varsity sports from Monday-30-January.
The Bogota Bowling Bucs lost to the Hawthorne Christian Academy Defenders by the score of 0-7. The Defenders' Matthew had both the match high game with a 204 and high set of 524. Bogota's Casey Grod had team highs with a 196 game and 501 set. Thier record is now 10-5. They next play on Thursday-2-Febuary against Saddle River Day school.
The Men's Basketball Bucs traveled to New Milford to play the Knights. In the first eight minutes Bogota would take a 25-15 lead. By halftime the Knights would close the margin to 35 to 28. New Milford would use a strong fourth quarter for a come from behind win 64-61.
Bogota's Evan Abreu finished with a team high of 17 Points. Brain Cotes led the Bucs with 3 Three Point Baskets. New Milford's Jaiden Ortiz had a team high with 14 Points including a game high of 4 Three Point Baskets. Bogota's record is now 5-13. They next are scheduled to play on Wednesday-1-February against Leonia on the Jay Mahoney Court in Speary Gym at 7:30p
The Bogota-Heights Women's team hosted the Lady Knights on the Jay Mahoney Court in Speary Gym. Bogota-Heights scored the first three points of the game only to have New Milford have the next 12. This gave the Visitors a 12-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. By halftime Bogota-Heights cut the margin to 19 to 21. After the restart Bogota-Heights would prevent New Milford from scoring any points with having 5 of their own. This put them in the lead 24-21 at the three-quarter time mark. In the final quarter the teams match each other scoring. Bogota-Heights took over the lead for good with a pair of free throws with less than a minute to play. They added two more for a 37-34 win. Amaya Carutthera had a game high of 21 Points for the Lady Knights. Bogota-Heights were led by Sam Russo with 12 Points, and Emma Fowler with 2 Three Point Baskets. They now have a record of 8-8. Thier next game is Wednesday-1-February at Leonia. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30p.
