Fire Department Swearing in

 15-December-2021
On Tuesday-14-December the Officers of the Ridgefield Park Volunteer Fire Department  were sworn in to their positions for 2022. The Installation ceremony began with Fire Chief Officer John Antola giving the 2021 year end report. Some highlights from Chief Antola were that 7 new officers have been added to the Department.  There were a total of 372 responded by the Fire Department.  Members of the Ridgefield Park Volunteer Fire Department responded to assist in Swift Boat rescues caused by Hurricane IDA, and the Officer who was injured in the a call in March has fully recovered and has returned to active duty.
This was followed by the report of the Departmental election held earlier in the month.  The results of those elections saw Officer Michele Lynn being name President of the Department  Administrative Committee.  Officers William Lynn and Officer John Malool were named Assistant Chiefs and Officer John Antola Jr. is now the Fire Chief for Ridgefield Park Volunteer Fire Department for 2022.
After the reports were given the Administrative Officers, the Second Lieutenants, First Lieutenants, and Captains were given the oath of office by Ms. Tara O’Grady.  Ms. O’Grady then sworn in Officers William Lynn and Officer John Malool as Assistant Chiefs for 2022. Ridgefield Park Mayor Mr. John Anlian then presented  Ex-Chiefs badges to Officers James VanDerTulip, and Officer Rodney Wagner.  After the Assistance Chief were sworn in, they were awarded their new badges. Assistant Chief William Lynn had his Mother, Officer Michele Lynn, pin his badge to his uniform. Assistant Chief John Malool’s wife Janet  added the badge to his uniform.
Next Mayor Anlian swore in Fire Chief John Antola Jr for 2022. Chief Antola requested for his Father, and former Fire, Chief John Antola Sr. added the Chief badge to his uniform. The Senior Chief was accompanied by the current Chief’s son.
After a brief recess the Commissioners meeting was called back to order. Only two citizens spoke during the public comment session.   Then the Board voted on the items from the consent agenda. All items were passed by an unanimous vote. Items of note were to accept  the appointments the service professionals contracted by the Governing Body for 2021.
The next Board of Commissioners Meeting will take place on Tuesday-28-December. This  is scheduled to start at 7:30p and will be held in the Board Chambers in the Municipal Building located on the third floor at 234 Main St. Ridgefield Park, NJ
