Bogota Board of Education

  On Tuesday-28-February the Bogota Board of Education held their second meeting of the Month. In his Superintendent's reports Mr. Damien Kennedy first thanked the school's maintenance staff for their work in clearing the snow from the buildings and grounds. He next acknowledged that the mailer sent out about the upcoming referendum was incorrect. He contacted the consulting firm to send out the correct information. At the time of this meeting Superintendent Kennedy had not had a response from the State of New Jersey about closing of schools for the 14-March vote.  Since that time the District has been allowed to close all four schools for the full day of Tuesday-14-March. Classes will resume as scheduled on Wednesday 15-March. Superintendent Kennedy added that one more Townhall Meeting for the Referendum will take place on Tuesday-7-March starting at 7:00p. This will be held in person at the High School Cafeteria and online.
Student Representative Ms. Simra Fatima announced that the Spring concert will be held on Friday-19-May. Also, the Spring musical will be held on Friday and Saturday 24 & 25 March.  
  Then the Board moved to approve the items on the Consent Agenda, all resolutions were approved by unanimous vote Items of note were: rescinding the Covid-19 polices. 
 Approving the Mock Trail Club to travel for competitions. Approving the continuations of the Varsity Wrestling program to work with Ridgefield Park School. The Varsity Baseball program to work with Saddle Brook High School. And adding the Varsity Softball Program to work with Leonia High School.  Bogota will be the team of record for Wrestling. Saddle Brook will be the team of record for Baseball, and Leonia will be the team of record for Softball.
 The Board accepted the retirement of High School Mathematics Teacher Ms. Joan Frey, effective June 30, 2023. Also resignation of High School Graphics Arts Teacher Mr. Louis Severino, effective June 30, 2023.  The Board then approved the hiring of Ms. Natalia Kadish as a Graphic Art Teacher at the High School. The Board also approved the use of the Moore Gym in Steen School to be used for Recreation Department's Basketball Training camp.

The next Board of Education meeting will be Tuesday-14-March at 7:00p. This will take place in person at the Bogota High School Cafeteria located on the second floor of 2 Henry Luthin Pl. Bogota, NJ and online. This meeting is open to the Public.
