Unofficial results from the special election of the bond referendum for the Bogota Board of Education.
The referendum was for a bond issue to improve the schools in Bogota. It had two questions to be vote on.
-The first question was a vote to approval of Capital and Educational Renovations for all Capital / Educational & Facilities Infrastructure Projects for the current and planned school buildings. The Capital improvements would be for facilities infrastructure of the four current school building and to develop a new Career Technical Institute in the former Masonic Temple located at 390 Palisade Ave. This would house 5 Vocational Classrooms. All schools buildings would have classrooms upgraded, including a renovated Gymnasium at Bixby School. Along with renovations to the Auditorium, and Media Center at the High School, and other needed upgrades.
-The second question was a vote to approval to the Replacement and upgrading High School sports complex for the High School and Middle School sports programs. The Multipurpose Sports Complex would involve building a new Fiegel Field, which will include a running track, and a refurbished Baseball Diamond. The baseball field would be moved to the North end of Olsen Park
The first question won by with 687 votes for and 185 votes against.
The second question won by with 575 votes for and 301 votes against.
A total of 881 total votes were cast, or 14.8% of registered voters.

I am very happy and excited for Bogota. The approved referendum has a lot of great things for our students and community. I look forward to the process.
The next steps include meeting with our Architects and Bond Council to plan the sale of the bonds and designing the projects.
