Bogota Borough Council

  19-April-2024

   On Thursday- 18-April the Bogota Borough Council held their Regular Meeting for the Month of April. After Citizens remarks, the Council then opened the meeting for Public input on an ordinance about the removal or replacement of trees within the Borough. This is part of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Stormwater Management Program. When no member of the Public chose to speak, it was adopted by unanimous vote. Next the Council voted for the resolutions on the Consent Agenda. All were passed by unanimous vote. Items of note was to approve roadway improvements for James St. Other items passed was payment of claims and for a Block Party on Saturday-1-June at 38 W. Ft. Lee between Elm Ave and the Railroad crossing. This is schedule to begin at 1:00p. Rain date is Sunday-2-June.
  After the Council returned from a closed session, they voted to accept Mr. Derek DeMatteo to fill the vacant position for the Bogota Police Department. Mr. DeMatteo was approved for a conditional offer of employment based on when his training at the Police Academy is met.
 The next Borough Council meeting will be on Thursday-2-May at 7:30p. It will be held in the Council Chambers on the second floor of 375 Larch Ave. It is an in-person meeting only and is open to the Public.

Scarlet/Bucs Baseball

 18-April-2024
On Wed Apr 17.   The Baseball Scarlets/Bucs played the second game of a Home and Home series against the Dwight-Morrow Maroon Raiders. This took place on Bassano Field in Little Ferry. The 
Scarlets/Bucs would score ten runs in the first inning before the first out. They would win the five-inning game by a score of 17-2. Jason Alvarado would hit 4 for 4 with a career high of 6 Runs Batted In. He also had a Double and 1 Stolen Base. Seven other Scarlets would also have a Stolen Base: they were Josh Friedman, Chris Paula, Bryan Hernandez, Victor Rodriguez, Xavian Robinson, Hector Zarzuela, and Shea Losino.
  
Scarlets/Bucs Ryan Lewis pitched 4 innings and recorded 6 Strikeouts for his second win of the season. Ryan Fowler pitched one inning in relief and threw 1 Strikeout.
  Ridgefield Park’s record is now 7-2. They next play on Monday April 20 at Memorial with a 4:00p first pitch.
The Baseball
Scarlets/Bucs are scheduled to play the rest of their home game for 2024 at Bassano Field in Little Ferry.
