Sine Die 2015

3-Jan.-2015
On Saturday 3- Jan. the Bogota Borough Council held their annual Sine Die to reorganize the Borough Government for the year 2015. The main feature was the swearing in of the two member of Council voted into office in the November 2014 election.  Councilwoman Lisa Kohles was sworn in by NJ State Senator Loretta Weinberg. Councilwoman Kohles was elected to a full three term after serving out the term of seat held by Tito Jackson after he was appointed Mayor. The other member of Council was Thomas Napolitano who was sworn in by Bergen Freeholder Maura DeNicola. Councilman Napolitano won the  three year term on Council in his first time running for that office.
In a sight surprize Councilman Jorge Nunez was re elected as  Council President. Councilman John Mitchell was confirmed as the new Police Commissioner and was given an honorary Commissioners badge by Police Chief John Burke.
The ceremonies were opened by Talia Dombrowski singing "God Bless America".  For the first meeting resolutions the vote on a temporary Budget was table until a future meeting , and the vote on a Borough Engineer was voted on separately due to the ongoing litigation with the Robert Costa.  A concern was mentioned that  Mr. Costa might sue the Borough for back payment of a bills the court has allowed the Borough not to pay. In the end the Council voted 4-2 to appoint Robert Costa as Borough Engineer.
In other business the Attorney representing  Warren Waters  and the RiverDev Corp spoke about how the work to clean-up the Hess & Sifford site is proceeding. This is happening in order to develop that parcel of land  between W. Ft. Lee Rd and the Hackensack River. Mr Waters also spoke to Council to say that he is looking forward to a working with the Borough to have a mixed -use project that will help the Borough expand their tax base and to take advantage of the development boom in this part of Bergen County for Bogota.
The last thing the Council did was to presented Vincent Galante with his Citizen of the Year Award.
