Bogota Advisory Committee on Substance Abuse

On Wednesday-24-April, the Bogota Advisory Committee on Substance Abuse (BACSA) held their monthly meeting for April. At this meeting, the BACSA Coalition developed 5 essential committees that will help spearhead their initiatives. The formation of these committees is a collaborative effort and will continue to evolve. These committees will be:
-The Marijuana Committee will strategize and create a plan of action to address the use of marijuana by minors.
-The Parent and Community Engagement Committee will focus on developing a stronger relationship between parents and the community while encouraging volunteerism and educating community members on substance misuse. -The Sustainability Committee will explore existing resources, funding strategies, and ways to address future coalition needs.
-The Community Portrait Committee is aimed at taking a snapshot of the current needs of the town by collecting information, mapping out teen substance misuse, and assessing and documenting of our findings.
-Finally, the Alliance Program Committee, previously known as Bogota Advisory Committee on Substance Abuse Inc.,  will continue the work of the local drug alliance committee, advancing its mission, and exploring new avenues for growth.
Their next meeting will be on Wednesday-8-May as an online meeting. This will focus on training called the Strategic Prevention Framework training. The Strategic Prevention Framework training will teach the coalition the many tools proven to help reduce teen substance misuse.
