Bogota Board of Education

  On Tuseday-16-May the Bogota Board of Education held their regular meeting for the month. In his report Superintendent Mr. Daimen Kennedy announced, the Middle School Spring Concert will be held on Wednesday-31-May.  And on Thursday-1-June Bixby and Steen School will hold a joint Spring Concert in the High School Auditorium. Another point he made was that the final day of the 2022-23 will be Tuesday-20-June, with the final six days of school before that will half days. There will be a half day on Friday-26-May for Memorial Day.                   Superintendent Kennedy continued by saying at the next meeting on Tuesday-13-June the Board of Education will honour the Teachers who be retiring at the end of the school year. Also, to be recognized will be the 4 Students that have graduated from Bergen Community College during their Senior High School year.  He then announced that Ms. Amandine Fernandez received a full Athletic scholarship from Monmouth University. Also, that Mr. Alexander Rojas has commented to attend Yale University starting for the 2023-24 school year. 
   All resolutions on the consent agenda were passed by unanimous vote. Items note was to accept the resignation of Middle School Principal Dr. Erick Alfonso effective Saturday-1-July. With this a number of administrative moves were also approved. The first was to approve the transfer of Mr. Christopher Albiez from the Principal of Steen School to become the new Principal of the Middle School. Next was to approve the transfer of Ms. Kelly DeCongelio from the High School Principal to be the new Principal of Steen School.  These will also be effective Saturday-1-July. Then the Trustees approved the advertise for the position of Bogota High School Principal.   Other resignations accepted was of Mr. Kenneth Bosland, 6th grade teacher and Mr.  Michael Fridman, English teacher. Both effective Friday-30-June. New appointments approved was for  Ingy Adam, as a 8th Grade Mathematics Teacher for the 2023/2024 school year. Along with two Maintenance position for Mr. Nigel Comuelo and Mr. Aaron Salaza. Other approval was of Special Education Program for 18–21-year-olds, and a Life Skills Program for Middle School Students. Also approved was contacts with Trinty Lutheran School and Bogart Memorial School to continue to be use for Pre-School class space.  
   The next Board of Education meeting will be Tuesday-6-June at 7:00p. This will take place in person at Speary Gym located at 2 Henry Luthin Pl. Bogota, NJ and online. This meeting is open to the Public. For more information, please go to: https://www.bogotaboe.com/
