Bogota Council

   On Thursday-18-May the Bogota Borough Council had their Regular meeting for the month. The first order of business was to discuss a number of items. One was to hear from Bogota Volunteer Fire Department Chief William Hordern about a new Bergen County wide Fire Mutual Aid Agreement.  Chief Horden explained the changes from the current Mutual Aid Agreement to what is being proposed.  The new Agreement will have all Bergen County Fire Dept. to receive aid from any other Dept in the county. This will be coordinated by Bergen County. Chief Horden recommended Council to approve the new agreement. It was approved by unanimous vote. Next was to approve a part-time assistance for the Recreation Director. This was also approved by unanimous vote. Several ordinances were introduced. One is to limit short-term rental in the Borough, another was for a multi-purpose bond. Both of these will be open to Public Comment at the Council meeting on Thursday-8-June. Also at this meeting will be the presentation of the 2023 Municipal Budget.
  Then the resolutions on the consent agenda were passed by unanimous vote. Items of note was to revise the Borough's Mater Plan to prohibit warehouse uses.  Also, the hiring of two new employees for the Department of Public Works. Another approval was to accept Mr. Eric Barker as a new member for Engine Co. #1 
  The next Borough Council meeting will be a work session held on Thursday-8-June starting at 7:00p.  This will be held in-person, and in a Hybrid format, is scheduled to be held in the Council Chambers starting at 7:00p. The Work Session Meeting will have only one Public Comment session at the end of a Work Session meeting. There will not be any Governing Body reports.
