Bogota 5K Fun Run and Walk

 11-October -2026
On Sunday-10-October the Bogota High School Athletic Department hosted their second annual Bogota 5K Fun Run and Walk. This took place at the Bogota Athletic Complex. This included a 1 mile Run and Walk and the Kiddie Quarter Mile.
Runners arrived in the Welcome Plaza before the sunrise. They registered for the events this day, took time to warm-up, and explored the sponsorship tables that were on display.
As the start time moved closer the participants gathered on River Rd just beyond S. Park Pl. The Bogota Marching Buccaneer Band played the National Anthem, with the runners just behind the starting line. Then Athletic Director Mr. Brian Appleton called the runners in to position. He then led a Countdown from 10 and at zero he sounded the horned to start the race heading South on River Rd.
The course was laid out to go through the Streets of the Borough. After going down River Rd, the course made a left turn onto Elm Ave. This continued to W. Grove St to find its way to move South onto Larch Ave. A turnaround at McDougall saw the runners split Larch Ave into South and North lanes. The northern route turn left on W. Main St followed by a number of turns to return to W. Park Pl. From there the course move clockwise around the Softball and Baseball fields to the path behind the scoreboard. The runners then enter Feigel Field’s running track. Then, after moving along the Bucs Pride Corner, they turned onto the homestretch to the finish line.
The top Men’s finishers were, Mr. Ryan Scully coming in first with a time of 17 minutes and 01.59 seconds. Then Mr. Nikko Reyes in Second at 17 m and 22.78s. With Mr. Jimmy Gutierrez taking third with a time of 17 m and 56.92 s.
The Women’s group was led by Ms. Stephanie Santana taking the top spot coming in at 22 minutes and 44.99 seconds. She was followed by Ms. Anna Ter-Meliksetian at 23 m and 00.13 s. Then Ms. Raquel Camejo placing third in 23 m and 13.36 s.
This year there were 188 participants that cross the finish line on the track.
Then the awards ceremony for the top 3 runners overall, and the winner of each of the different age groups was held.
After that, there was a brief moment to reset the track for the next two event. The first was a one-mile walk, or run, which was four times around the running track.
Then a Kiddie Quarter Mile was held. This was a sprint once around the track and was the last race of the day.
Proceeds from this event will go to help fund Bogota Athletics.
