13-October
-2026
On Sunday-11-October the Bogota Public Library hosted a concert by Diane
and Gerard Barros. Originally scheduled for 27-September, it was postponed until
Sunday-11-October.
This was a performance
that paid tribute to musicians with New Jersey roots.
They started with music
by Count Basie, from Red Bank. This was followed with songs by Leslie Gore of
Englewood, Bruce Springsteen from Long Branch, Juice Newton from Lake Hurst, and
David Cassidy of W. Orange.
A number of artists have a
Newark background were: Connie Francis, Paul Simon, and Frankie Valli.
There were also several
groups who would get started in New Jersey, they are: The Shirelles all who
had attended Passaic High School, and The Rascals out of Garfield.
The 30 people in attendance
spent an hour of a raining afternoon listening to music from their past all the
while clapping and singing together.
