Some events happening in and around Bogota for the weekend starting Thursday 2-Oct.

Thursday -2-Oct
Bogota


The Bogota Borough Council will be holding their regular Council meeting  and work session starting at 7:30p in Council Chambers.  The Bogota Borough Hall is located at 375 Larch Ave, Bogota , NJ. This meeting is open to the public.

Thursday -2-Oct
Bogota
   This will be the first day of the Winter Trash schedule. There will only be one a week pick-up of trash until May 2015.  Trash will only be picked up on Monday & Tuesday. Lawn refuse will be pick-up on Thursday & Friday. On Monday 6 -Oct. will be the start of " Leaf Season"  Leaves may be placed in the street neatly against the curb to be removed by Bogota DPW. It is asked that  all leaves be as close to the curb as possible  in order not to interfere with traffic. It is also asked that storm sewers be kept clean of any debris to reduce the risk of flooding.

 The Bogota Lady Bucs Volleyball team will have a Home Match at Speary Gym against Hawthorne Christian Academy  this is scheduled to start at 4:00p
The Bogota Bucs Soccer team   will play a Junior Varsity game at Hawthorne Christian Academy starting at 4:00p


Friday-3-Oct
Bogota  
The Bogota Lady Bucs Volleyball team have an away Match at Park Ridge scheduled to start at 4:00p 
The Bogota Bucs Soccer team play an away  game against St. Mary's.  This will be classified as a Varsity Game. It will have a 4:00p Kick-off
The Bogota Bucs Football team will play at Weehawken it will have a 7:00p Kick-off.

   The Ridgefield Park Elks lodge # 1506 will be hosting an International Night dinner from 6:00p to 8:00p Tickets are $10.00  proceeds will go to help fund various  Elks scholarship funds For more information , or to reserve a table please call Joe Riccardi at 201-982-6294 .  The Bogota Green Team is hosting the 1st Annual Bogtoa Green Fair on Saturday 4- Oct. This will take place in the Bogota Recreation Center parking lot located at 162 W. Main St Bogota , NJ. Admission to this event is free and will run from 9:00a to 12:00 noon.  This Green fair will correspond with the  Bergen County Utilities Authority mobile shredding truck being in Bogota at that time. The BCUA shredding truck is a chance for resident to safely  dispose of any personally , or sensitive paper document they may have. This is also a more environmentally friendly way of disposing of those documents. Paper is feed into a secure truck while being shredded then the truck transport the shredded paper to a processor which turns the paper into a fine dust, or powder which is then recycled into various paper products.
   Anyone  who brings documents to be shredded will be placed into a raffle to win a Dinner for two at  the Bogota restaurant Luksa Italian Cuisine. Also  scheduled to attend the Green Fair is Lewis Marx's pottery who will have items available for purchase, as well as demonstrations in the art of pottery. Bogota Blog NJ will have original matted  photographs from the website for sale. A Soda Stream system will be raffled off, along with Bogota Beautiful showing Students how to make crafts by  using recycled items.  One vendor will display different types of green cleaning products and a bin from Planet Aide that will recycles donated clothes. 
   This is another event that will allow the Bogota Green Team to achieve certification from Sustainable Jersey. With certification the Bogota Green Team  will then be allowed to apply for funding for more green project in Bogota  and have more excess  resources to help the Borough achieve a more sustainable standard of living.

Junior Bucs Football will play Little Ferry  at Fiegel Field. Kick-off for the Pee-Wee game will be at 11:00a with the other games to follow.

GROUNDS CLEAN UP:
8:00 am Grounds cleanup, meet at the Campbell-Christie house area. The Building and Grounds Committee will be hosting a "Fall Cleaning" on October 4th from 8 am to 11 am (weather permitting). This work will occur outdoors so bring gloves and boots. We'll be tackling the removal of non-native plants and vines, painting, fixing fence posts and cleaning the buildings.    Results from the games play by teams from Bogota.

  The Bogota Lady Bucs Volleyball  were upset on Wednesday Night by the Secaucus Lady Patriots at Speary Gym 1-2 (13-25: 25-15: 24-26) . Before the Match  Bogota Coach Brad DiRupo announced the retirement of Carly O'Sullivan's # 14 Jersey.  She joins Basketball Player Pat Sullivan to be honoured. Ms. O'Sullivan was vote to three different All- American teams, and helped Bogota to four straight State group 1 titles.
  During the first game Secaucus' Kendall Caruso recorded her 1,000 assist as a Lady Patriots. She was rewarded by her teammates & Family during a timeout after that moment.
   The Match itself saw Secaucus take advantage of Bogota overhitting to take the first game. In the second Bogota found the open spaces when needed to tie the Match at 1. The third game was a heavyweight affair with both teams taking leads, and both team coming back to tie. A number of long points were played throughout with neither team backing down.  The game was so close that even one reversed call could have played a part in it. In the end the Lady Bucs were within one point of the victory, but Secaucus came back with five straight set points for the win.
  Bogota next has a scheduled Match on Thursday 2- Oct. against Hawthorne Christian Academy at Home in Speary Gym with a 4:00p start. Then they play at Park Ridge on Friday 3-Oct starting at 4:00p

     Both of the Bogota Cross Country Squads won their races over Saddle River Day & Hawthorne Christian by scores of 15-50. The Lady Bucs were lead by Jillian O'Brien finishing first then with Alanah O'Brien 3rd, Anais Fernandez 4th, Mika Sunga 5th and Emma O'Brien 10th.
   The Men's Squad  took the first nine places in their race with Chris Rivera being the Overall winner. Bogota's next meet will be on Wednesday 8- Oct against Cresskill & Bergen Charter at the Darlington Park Race Course in Mahwah with the first race  scheduled to start at 4:35p

  The Bogota Bucs Soccer team play an unschedule game against Leonia in Wednesday 1-Oct. The Bucs had goals by Colin McDonnell and Jack Tobin on their way to a 2-1 Junior Varsity win. They next play at Hawthorne Christian on Thursday 2- Oct. Then at St. Mary's in Rutherford on Friday 3- Oct. Both game will have a 4:00p kick-off. The St. Mary's game is classified as a Varsity Game.

Bogota Lady Bucs Volleyball

1- Oct-2014

  The Bogota Lady Bucs had a 2-0 (25-5: 25-13) victory over Saddle River Day School on Tuesday 29- Sept. at Speary Gym. Bogota again had multiply leaders in different categories. Amanda Manzo lead with 16 Assist.  In Service points Casey Gillespie lead with 6 while Kelliann Brown, Cathleen Macaroy, Amanda Manzo, and Kaliana Vasquez each had 4. While Ms. Brown and Samantha Gioiosa tied with 8 Kills, Aydelina Cyd, Madison Heck, Tiana Henry, Ms. Manzo and Natalie  Torres each record 2 Kills. Kelliann Brown, Cathleen Macaroy, and Amanda Manzo had 2 Aces a piece.
  Bogota's next Match will be on Wednesday 1- Oct when the play Secaucus in Speary Gym.  This is schedule to have a 7:00p start.
