Bogota of Education

  On Tuesday-21-May, the Bogota Board of Education held their Regular meeting for the Month. During his reports Superintendent Mr. Damian Kennedy announced the district’s winner of Teacher of the Year for 2024. They were: For the High School Ms. Diana Baranello. For the Middle School Ms. Lauren Tomlinson. In the E. Roy Bixby School Ms. Melissa Duscher, and in the Lillan M. Steen School Ms. Maria Castillo. 
Superintendent Kennedy also mentioned that for the upcoming DUI demonstrations the Sophomore class from the High School will join the Junior and Seniors in this program to show the possible consequences of impaired or distracted driving. 
  A later announcement was to say the Bogota Borough Council approved a Boot Drive on
 Saturday and Sunday 25 & 26 May for donation to the District's Athletic programs.
  Then the Trustees voted on the Consent Agenda. All resolutions were passed by unanimous vote. Items of note were to accept the resignation due to retirement of Mr. Thomas Hughes, Social Studies Teacher effective 30- June.  To accepts the resignation of Wendy Hughes, Library Media Specialist effective 30-June. Approval of Transportation Services Agreement with Recreation Department. Approval of Private Provider Contract with Bogart Memorial School. Approval of Private Provider Contract with Trinity Lutheran School. Awarded a contract for the Athletic Complex Site & Field Improvements at Oscar E. Olsen Park. 
  The next meeting will be on Tuesday-18-June at 7:00p This will be held in the High School Cafeteria located on the second floor of 2 Henry Luthin Pl. and online.
