On Tuesday 19-November, the Bogota Board of Education held their regular meeting for the month. In his Superintendent’s report Mr. Damien Kennedy first introduced Student Representative Ms. Jhoana Morales. She announced that the High School had a number of assembles about safe driving for Students and Suicide awareness program. Another announcement was that the Youth Action Committee is having a drive to collect food and supplies for Local Animal shelter. Finaly Ms. Morales talked about a Winter Wonderland fund raiser with process going to Class funds.

Superintendent Kennedy then informed the Trustees that security improvements for the entrance to the High School and Middle School will take place over Winter Break. The improvements for Steen and Bixby school will take place over Summer Vacation. Then he reminded the audience that the Thanksgiving Holiday will start with a held day session on Wednesday -27-November. The school will be closed on Thursday and Friday, and resume on Monday-2-December with their regular session.
Then the trustees voted on the Consent Agenda, all resolutions were passed by unanimous
vote. Items of note were:
-The approval of the District goals for 2024-25. These include Improve the overall district math proficiency of students. Improve the overall district reading proficiency
of students in grades K-2. Implement the redistricting plan in a way that minimizes disruption to students'
educational experiences and supports families during the transition. And the rebranding the School District for Enhanced Community Engagement and Identity. Superintendent Kennedy explained the final goal was to increase and strengthen community connections with both the Parents of School Children and the Resident of the Borough.
- To approve contacts to replace the Hot Water heater at Bixby School. Over half of these cost will be funding by a grant from the State of New Jersey.
- To approve Coaching Positions for the 2024-25 Winter Sports season.
- To approve contracts for Nursing, and Staffing services.
The next Bogota Board of Education meeting will be a Regular meeting on Tuesday-17-December at 7:00p. It will be held in the High School Cafeteria in 2 Henry Luthin Pl. Bogota. It will also be available online. The meeting is open to the public.
