Laps for Ladies

  This Sunday 14- Oct -2012 there will be a " Lap for Ladies" walk in Olsen Park to help raise money as part of the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer that will be going on the weekend of the 20 &21 in New York. One of the main goals for this event is to get as many Bogota clubs and organizations to come together to help each other in a fund raising effort.    .      
    This years event will share  money raised  for two groups. One is the  Avon Breast Heath Outreach Program (Avon BHOP)  which will be participating in the in the Avon walk , and half of the money raised this Sunday will go to "Friends of Patty Bricky"
In future years the idea is have a dual fund raiser for the Avon walk, and a different local group. However of all the teams that participate the one with the highest team total, will keep half of their money for their own group.
  Check -in will be at the Bogota Rec Center starting at 8:00a. the walk starts at 9:00a goes until 11:00a

Blessing of the Animals

  On Sunday  7-Oct- 2012 held their second " Blessing of the Animal " service. Even with a grey and rainy day a small number of people came with their pets in order to share their faith with their animal companion's.
Lead by Pastor Peter Olsen hymns were sung , and prays were made. In Pastors Olsen sermon, he recalled the work of St. Francis of Assisi who dedicated his life to helping  others who could not help themselves. This included the plants and animal of the earth which is dependent  on humans in order to survive on this planet
  After the sermon the pet, and their owners came forward to receive an individual  blessing from Pastor Olsen.

GOP Cook-out

 The Bogota Republican Committee will be holding an all you can eat Bar-B-Que cook-out next Sunday 14-Oct. It will be at the picnic pavilion in Olsen Park. It will start at 2:00p and go until 5:00p. Tickets will be $15.00 for Adults, $10.00 for seniors and $5.00 for children. This will be a chance to meet, and talk to the GOP candidates Anne-Marie Mitchell  & Tina Trotta, who are running for for Borough Council.
