National Honor Society

 3-December-2021
  On Thursday-2-December the Bogota High School inducted 6 new members to the Robert Pollison Chapter of the National Honor Society.  The chapter was named after the former Principal of Bogota High School. The ceremony began with Faculty Advisor Ms. JoAnne Hrabovsky introducing  High School Principal Ms. Kelly DeCongelio. 

  Principal DeCongelio congratulated  the new members being inducted into this year National Honor Society Class. She then congratulated the families of this Student for their part in guiding their children to obtain this achievement.  Senior Presidents Kaylin Torres and Vincent Ducut explained the requirements needed to be accepted into the  National Honor Society.  Then the officers, Maryann Gesmundo, Olivia Burnett, Kyla Lowery, and Mira Sarabamon, ask that the new members to stand up with a lit a candle. With each candle representing  one of the four pillars of the National Honor Society. These are for  Scholarship: a cumulative GPA of 85, B, 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent standard of excellence. For Service: voluntary contributions made by a student to the school or community, done without compensation. In Leadership: a Student  who are resourceful, good problem solvers, and idea contributors. Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others. For Character: a student of good character is cooperative; demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability; shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others; and generally maintains a clean disciplinary record. Members Salma Abdel-Aziz and Owen Rosado then explain what is will be like as a member of National Honor Society. Along with  the meaning of the symbols in the shield.

    The new members from  the Class of 2021  Daniella Almonte, Valerie Brio, Simra Fatima, Amisha Singh, Annaya Syed, and Helena Tobin then recited the Honor Society Pledge. This was followed by the new members receiving their NHS  certificate and pins from Ms Hrabovsky.  To close the ceremony the High School Band lead the attendees in singing the Alma Mater.

October to December

    Monday-4-October will be the start of Leaf Season. Home Owners are allowed to place raked, leaves and grass cutting  in the street , along the curb, in front of their residents.  It is ask that the piles be placed in such a way as not to interfere with traffic, and away from storm sewers and drain to prevent flooding , or other water build-up. Leaf Season is schedule to end on Monday -13- December after that date all yard waste must be placed in brown leaf bags for pick-up.

Bogota Friends and Families have started their annual  Toy Drive with You Give Goods. They will  again be working with the Bogota Police Department  to supply them for their annual Holiday Toy Drive.  All gifts will be shipped directly to the Bogota Police Department so they can help Santa deliver them. Donors will be emailed a tax receipt at the time of purchase. This will run until Tuesday-7-December. Items can purchased on the You Give Goods website at: https://yougivegoods.com/drive/. 
 They are hoping to reach at least 500 items to be donated this Holiday Season.

Bogota Bowling

1-December-2021

   The Bogota Bowling Bucs opened their 2021-22 season on Tuesday-30-November. They would take on the Palisades Park Tigers at Parkway Lanes Elmwood Park, NJ.  The Bucs would win  all three frames, and win the match  by a score of 7-0. Bogota was lead by Own Rosado with match highs of 542 game. He also lead all players with a 542 series. The Tigers were lead by Aaron Lee with a 182 game, and a 429 series. Bogota now has a record of 1-0. 
  The next compete on Tuesday-2-December against Bergen Charter  4:00p  at Parkway Lanes Elmwood Park, NJ
