High School Musical

  On Saturday 25-June Bogota Beautiful's production of High School Musical held an open audition call at the Bogota Recreation Centre. There were a handful of Students on hand in the hopes of winning a part. This was the only open audition call scheduled, however anyone interested in setting up an appointment to audition must contact Isabel Bustamante at info@bogotabeautiful.com . The first rehearsal will be on Tuesday 12-July from 7:00p to 9:00p. This and following audition will be held at the Bogota Recreation Centre located at 162 W. Main St. Bogota, NJ.
  This production is open in everyone interested in joining the production.  Bogota Beautiful is seeking actors to play all role. Adults as well as Student are welcome to audition. There is also a need for technical theatre  crews.  This will include Scenery, Lighting, Props, Costuming, Make-up as well as promotion and fund raising.  Bogota Beautiful is seeing to add a Community Culture organization to Bogota in order to add to the quality of life with in the Borough.

   A Family Orchard Terrace is still searching for their lost dog . This family is serving as a Foster Home for this Dog who will answer to the name Cleo or Celine. She is a 2 year Shepard mix Brown and Black in colour.  The foster family reported Cleo missing on Wednesday 16-Dec after arriving home from work finding a window broken and Cleo missing. Cleo was last seen wearing a red collar decorated with images of bones on it.  Cleo may be familiar with the area along River Rd. She is described as "fearful" and may ran from strangers.  Cleo has been with her Foster Family for only a few weeks so she may be looking for an older home, or more familiar surroundings.

 Bogota Beautiful is conducting a contest to find the Bogota resident with the most appealing curb presents. This is open to all homeowners in Bogota. The homeowner may submit their own residents, or  other resident for consideration. The general Public may also nominate any home in Bogota for consideration. Only the front and side yards are eligible to be nominated.  There are two different categories that will be voted on.  One is the most appealing landscape of any home in Bogota. The other category that will be voted on is the best improved lawn in Bogota. This is a contest for any Homeowner that is currently, or is planning to upgrade and improve their landscaping. Two set  of photos are required for this contest. A separate before  and after photo should be sent for consideration for this category. To enter  either , of both  contests  1 to 3 photos the  nominated lawn must be sent to bogotabeautiful@gmail.com  before  Sunday 31-July-2016.

  To assist contestants with their project Bogota Beautiful has arranged with  Fresh & Fancy Farms of New Milford, NJ to offer a 15% discount on flowers, planter, shrubs, and trees. This offer is only valid  until Tuesday 31- May.   Fresh & Fancy Farms is located at 575 River Rd New Milford, NJ

  Photos will be posted on  Bogota Beautiful facebook page starting on Saturday 6-August for voting. To vote please "like" the photo. Voting is schedule to run through  Tuesday 16-August. The top 6 vote "like" getters will be entered into the final round of judge by a committee from Bogota Beautiful. Winners will be announced on Sunday 28- August. The Library will have it's  Night Traveler's Teen Club The Night Traveler's Teen Club is open to grades 6-12. Club members participate in various activities and interact with peers. Bring your ideas, creativity, and enthusiasm to the table.     The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman  This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office.  Ridgefield Park, NJ
  The first  event in the McGowan Park Summer Concert series will be George DeFeis.  Mr DeFeis will perform the sounds of Frank Sinatra . The concert is scheduled to start at 7:00p in McGowan Park located on the Bergen Turnpike in Ridgefield Park, NJ It is advised that anyone attending bring their own lawn chairs ,or blankets.    The  Bogota public library will host a craft workshop in conjunction with their Summer Reading program.     This will be the first day of the Leonia Sports Booster Summer Carnival. This is scheduled to run until Sunday 10-July.  Rides open at 6:00p daily until 10:00p on weekdays  and 11:00p on Weekends and Monday 4-July. There will be a fire works show on Monday 4-July after Sunset. 

   The Carnival will take place in the Henry Hoebel area along Ft. Lee Rd  Leonia, NJ

    Today will be the first day of the Bogota Library's  new movie rental policy. Due to the higher demand on just released movies those DVD   may be checked out for no more than three days. and can not be renewed. Along with no more than two movies per card holder.

   The Bogota Public Library will have a Mini-Makers Lab. This will be for Students  ages 4-6 years old. The will learn the basics of scientific discovery. Each week will feature experiments and crafts from a different principles. This will be held in the Teen Study  Corner on the First floor and run from 12:00n to 1:00p  This is a free event , however each Student must register in advance. Also Students must register for each week  separately.   From Saturday 2-July through Monday-4 July the Bogota Public library will be closed for the Independence Day holiday.

  Others Closure on Monday 4-July will be:

- The offices in the Bogota Borough Hall

- The Bogota Recreation Commission's Summer Day Camp

- Both the Bogota Basketball and Volleyball camps

- There will be no yard waste pick on this day

Class of 2016

   On Thursday 23-June the Bogota High School graduated it's 89th Senior Class. This was held at Feigel Field during an early Summer Sunset. 89 Students paraded  to their place of honour as Family and Friends looked on. Principal Damian Kennedy welcomed the attendees to the first Commencement Exercise  as the Principal , but added  that he has been fortunate to watch this class mature while serving as their Vice Principal.
   Salutatorian Joshika Andersson spoke of how she had to let go the fears of attending the High School for the first time. She then asked her Classmate to let go of any fears that the future may hold and strive to explore, take chances, (and even fail) one their own terms. The keynote speaker was Bogota Class of 89 Graduate Dr. Adam Fried. He talked of being from Bogota is more than the words on a piece of paper, or the name on a uniform. He remembered having moved to the Borough at a young age and be welcomed into the Community.  He recalled the the friendship made, the accomplished won, and mostly the support from other during a Family tragedy. He urged the Graduates to not only keep the memories of Bogota with them, but the spirit  of Bogota to help them achieve success in the lives.
    Valedictorian Katherine Fafara speech was that how she was able to learn, grow and achieve awards with hard work, it was as important to enjoy life for its self. Knowing that having a supportive Family behind her allowed for to take on the responsible to grow. She talked how when she was overwhelmed her Parents would be there for advice. When she was stressed she could play games with her Brother and enjoy the moments with him.   She let her Classmates know that with hard work comes the opportunities to have new experiences. But also allow for the time to enjoy the people in ones life and the little things in the world that make life livable.
   As the diplomas were awarded to the Graduates the Bogota tradition of allowing current and past  Board of Education members the honour of presenting their Children with their Diploma's of Graduation.  After the Graduates were lead by Class President Michael Granquist, and the Alma Mater was sung. Caps were flown in Celebration by the newest Alumni of  Bogota High School Class of 2016.
