On Thursday-19-February, the Bogota Borough Council held their Regular meeting for the month.
During Citizens Comments a representative of the Bogota Community Defense addressed the Council. He talked about the growing appearance of the personal from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, (ICE) in Bogota and other nearby communities. He expressed the hope that the Council will be proactive in the security of the Borough and its residents. One suggestion was to pass resolutions that will allow more protections for all citizens of Bogota.
In the Council response it was said that such resolutions have been written and may be voted on at the next Council Meeting after all Council Members have read it.
It was also said that a private group of citizens have organized to alert residents about an ICE present in the area. And to know a person's rights. For more information call 1-888-347-3767
Then the Council voted on the Consent Agenda. All items passed by unanimous vote.
An item of note.
- To adopt the Bergen County Multi-Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation plan: This identifies current and future natural hazard risks, and assesses the vulnerability of facilities, infrastructure, and populations, and defines mitigation goals and actions to reduce or eliminate long term risk to people and property in (local government) from the impacts of future natural hazards and disasters.
After the regular meeting was adjourned, the Council moved into Executive Session.
When the meeting was called back to order their was one resolution voted on. This was to direct the Borough Attorney to create a resolution to start the process of selling the Borough owned property at 13 E. Ft. Lee Rd. It was passed by a 4 to 1 vote.
The next work session Council meeting will be held on Thursday-5- March starting at 7:30p. This will be the last work session meeting for 2026. It is scheduled to be held in the Council Chambers located on the second floor of 375 Larch Ave Bogota, NJ. For more information please visit: https://www.bogotaonline.org/
