The Bogota Cross Country squad had 8 total runners competing in the  Lou Molino Memorial Bergen County meet of Champions at Darlington Park on Saturday 1- Nov.  The Lady Bucs were represented by Jillian O'Brien who finished 68 out of the 104 Women running. The Men's team placed 9th  from the field of 12 teams competing.  Andy Jaipersaud finished in 36 to be the highest Bogota finishers.
On of the Bogota runners who did not run at the Meet of Champions was Alberto Castillo. Last year as a Junior at Bogota High School Mr. Castillo suffered from a stroke that not only stopped his athletic career but forced him out of school for several months. After months of therapy he was able to re enter school, and was cleared to run  as a members of the 2014 Men's Cross Country squad.  His hard work  on learning how to walk correctly  show when he placed 20th in the Bergen County Group "D" Junior Varsity race.  His effort was one part  as the Men's J.V. Squad took a third place  out of the 8 squad meet.  His time in that race was 9 seconds faster , at 19:30, then his previous personal best. Part of his recovery process help Mr. Castillo become more of a leader to his teammates, and is credited as a part of this year squad success.

Bogota Blog NJ would like to thank Coach Pat Rochford with  proving information for this story & the photos from the Group "D" Championships.
