masks

 8-February-2022
On Monday-7-February New Jersey Governor Phillip Murphy announced that the state mandated order of having School Students be required to wear masks while in the building will be lifted on Monday-7-March.  The reasoning to the scheduled date is to allow local school districts have time to decide on what their local school districts to determine for themselves what action to take for their Students.  The March date will also likely provide some warmer temperatures, allowing schools to open more windows and provide better ventilation than in the heart of winter.
This is in response lowering of reported cases in the State Schools, Governor Murphy explained that the number of cases has lowered to less than five times what it was among students at the beginning of January and six times fewer among teachers and staff.  It was also said that Schools will not be permitted to ban the use of masks. The Governor said he hopes schools will take disciplinary action if anyone is bullied for continuing to wear a mask.
Earlier Governor Murphy eliminated the indoor mask mandate and capacity restrictions for indoor public places such as restaurants, stores and theaters. Businesses can still choose to impose their own mandates.
State government buildings are the only facilities now that still impose a mask mandate in New Jersey. Governor Murphy said his health team has been discussing lifting those mandates but had not yet made a decision. Masks must still be worn at transportation facilities such as airports and train stations as well as all healthcare facilities under a federal mandate.
Bogota Superintendent of Public Schools Mr. Damian Kennedy said the district will consult with the New Jersey Department of Education for more clarification and guidelines.
The Bogota Board of Education next meeting will be on Tuesday-8-February starting at 7:00p. This will be held in person and online. It will be held in the High School Cafeteria located at 2 Henry Luthin Pl. Bogota , NJ
It is also available online at: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85691749230  and will also be available on Youtube and the website of the Board of Education, www.bogotaboe.com
